The princess was in her room. It was a small annex off the main chapel of the church. She did not know what it’s original intention was, but when they first arrived in their new castle she had taken it for herself. Her maidens knew where the room was and when Gisla went to pray there. It was easy to find her; she had a guard stationed outside the door.
The room was plainly ordained with curtains and candles and a comfortable chair with a side table. Against the far wall was a statue of a crowned woman with a babe in her arm. To the statue’s right against the next wall was another statue; a man in armor, wielding a sword, with folded wings against his back. The left wall held two windows, a crucifix on the wall between them.
Gisla sat in front of the statue of the woman. Typically she would be on her knees but she was sitting on her backside with her knees crossed under her; God could forgive her for the circumstances. She had started taking William with her, allowing the babe to crawl about the room as she prayed. It allowed her to not have to leave to feed him. Today he sat on her lap, watching the flickering of the candles’ flames as his mother whispered a prayer.
thenorthernbear replied to your post “Pet peeve: people who blame Ragnar for everything, but refuse to see...”
Rollo is guilty. He always has been. He has his issues with his brother but those are HIS issues, they aren't caused by Ragnar.
That was my issue with it. They weren’t Ragnar’s fault, just like Ragnar’s aren’t Rollo. You know I adore yours. People’s opinions just make me all ughhh. I hate people who blame the main lead for everyone’s problems thogh.

Everyone bullying the poor brown panda.
@thenorthernbear ❤’d for a starter ✖ STILL ACCEPTING!
Things had been difficult since Gyda had died, and since Lagertha had left him. To make it worse, he’d had to fight his brother, and he still wasn’t that pleased about it, despite the fact that he’d spoken to the Law-Giver, bribing him to spare his brother’s life. The two had even had somewhat of a conversation and Rollo had spouted off some nonsense about needing to step out of his shadow. Ragnar tried to understand, but really he didn’t.
It’d been a while since they had that conversation and Ragnar was no idiot. He was able to see that his brother was still struggling, destructing some even. But, he wanted to destruct too. He’d lost Lagertha and Bjorn, when he’d already lost their unborn child and Gyda. Losing Gyda hurt every single day and now he had a baby with a woman he barely tolerated. Sure, he was marrying her but that didn’t mean that he felt about her like he did Lagertha.
Stepping inside to grab a drink, he spotted his brother in a corner. “Still sulking over the fact that your life was spared and your path to enlightenment wasn’t what you’d hoped it would be, brother?” He was trying to find a way to breach this problem that they had between them, but the problem was, he barely could find positive in any of it, himself, of late.

“ if you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”
“ I never said I thought anything would have a happy ending, I am not that naive. I have lived a life.” Rollo all but growled, his stance defensive.
Despite how he towered over her, large and imposing, Hel smiled unwaveringly, “Awfully defensive about it, aren’t you?”
