I was out and about early this morning, for me. I was close to the legendary Original Pantry that opened in 1924 and was open continuously till the pandemic. I think it’s been 2 years since I’ve been there but I might be wrong about that. Time has a way of shifting because of the pandemic. I usually settle in for lunch or dinner but today I took the less traveled road and had breakfast. I usually favor savory but my sweet tooth got the better of me. I ordered sausage and easy over eggs with a side of French toast and drip coffee. The service was surprisingly quick after a lengthy wait in line. There often a line but some times of day it’s easier to get in. I managed to get in quicker because I sat at the counter. It was the kind of comfort food I was needing nestled in mid-century sensibilities that speaks to a different age. The over easy eggs’ yokes blended really well with the home fries while the sausage did double duty with the eggs and when I shifted to the French toast my last patty was a nice counter to the sweetness of the syrup. I was full but not stuffed. It made me feel happy and then I shopped at Ralph’s to multitask my way home. You need this kind of thing every once in awhile to feel civilized. #breakfasts #brunchla #foodiephotography #foodporn @theoriginalpantryofficialpage #theoriginalpantry #thepantry #dtla #dtlaartsdistrict #dtlaeats @dtlaphotogroup @dtlaweekly #dtla (at The Original Pantry Cafe) https://www.instagram.com/p/CecOpLGvyGa/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
