los hermanos de jerome avenue || Eddie & Rafi

There was likely no person in the world that Eddie Garcia was more proud of than Rafael Barba. He’d done what they always dreamed of. He made it out of the Bronx. He worked that genius brain of his and showed it off to the right people and ended up at Harvard Law on a full scholarship. Between Eddie working two jobs and Rafael studying his ass off, the pair of them didn’t have as much time to talk as they used to. But his hermano was moving up in the world and Eddie couldn’t have been happier for him if he tried.
Which was why, when their friend Alex returned from a visit and told Eddie what had gone down, he emptied his savings and caught the first bus to Boston he could. From the bus depot, he managed to get a cab out to Harvard. He wasn’t sure exactly where Rafael’s dorm was, given that this was the first time he’d been able to come. Finally he found someone who was able to help him find what he was looking for.
He walked quickly down the hall and knocked on the door. He would have called him to let him know he was coming, but he hadn’t taken a second to rest since he heard what happened. “Rafi? You in there?” He had a shopping bag full of his mami’s food over one shoulder and a dufflebag over the other.
