Yk what the restaurant scene deserves its own post, I have so many things to say.
Andy keeps inadvertently stealing Emily's dreams from her and Emily still has always wanted to just be her friend
The way Emily fidgets with her hair and smiles when Andy walks in before saying "Hello" and trying to school her face into something neutral
Andy looking surprised when Emily starts with "Well I screwed up, rather royally" and then smiling anyway before immediately telling her "it's okay." Because Andy screwed up once too and if anyone deserves her grace right now it's Emily
Emily's little "Really?" She wants to be forgiven so so bad and Andy is just there having already forgiven her is sooo AHHHHH
So much more under the cut
Emily joking about how it's shocking that Andy is compromising her values by forgiving Emily to try and make light of how genuinely shocked she is that Andy even thought she was worth talking to again. She's so shocked that Andy is even sitting in front of her right now
Emily was the one to call to arrange for them to talk here. She didn't have Dior, or Benji, or Runway anymore so she figured maybe she could at least have Andy? At least she could try and fix that? She's the one who reached out. And god that hurts because just imagine her sitting there like "you better pick up this time Andy"
The way Emily can only get through the smallest amount of small talk before she fidgets with a menu she's already ordered from, not looking Andy in the eyes when she tells her that Andy all but broke her heart 20 years ago.
Emily's face when Andy says "Oh yeah I remember!" is so full of hope for maybe at least closure and then Andy says she thought it was a pocket dial
Just the fact that they both remember that phone call is the gooiest thing I've ever heard
Emily rubbing her arms before saying "No I wanted us to be...I thought we could be pals" genuinely makes me want to be sick of my god she's so nervous
Emily saying "it's not a big deal" WHEN SHE BROUGHT IT UP OUT OF NOWHERE BECAUSE SHE'S CLEARLY BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT FOR TWENTY FUCKING YEARS
Andy melting into a pile of goo saying "you wanted to be friends" and Emily saying "yes" before rushing to immediately minimise that with "but it's obviously too late now" she wants Andy to say it isn't too late sooo badly
Emily calling herself persona non grata and then trying to make an annoyed face when Andy says "not to me" but it really coming across as somewhat hopeful and I'm sorry but there is love there
Andy telling Emily she's iconic is so soft because Emily has always tried so hard to just be noticed and appreciated by other people who have never seen her. Even her ex husband was apparently too self absorbed to love her properly. And here Andy is telling her that she's amazing enough all on her own and it really might genuinely be the first time anyone has ever told her that.
Emily's little shocked stare, lips parting and eyes welling up because despite everything and after all these years, Andy Sachs has apparently always just liked and respected her as Emily. Not as Miranda's first assistant or Dior Exec or whatever, just Emily. She just wants to be seen and loved ugh god
Emily blinks more tears away in this scene than she did when Andy gave her all the Paris clothes so maybe it really didn't have much to do with the clothes and everything to do with Andy. I hate to think how much she must've missed her.
Andy smiling so softly while Emily has to wipe away a tear this is such an insane movie and I think my heart is going to explode
We all know Emily is touchy as hell in the first movie which makes the "I don't want to hold your hand" bit so interesting to me. I like to think it's because she's just had to put up with so much touching she clearly didn't want from Benji so now she's trying to have boundaries again and a little part of the relief in her expression after she says "but yes friends" is because Andy isn't pushy about it and just accepted it with a laugh and and "okay" like it's what she'd expected anyway
Emily trying really hard to fight the smile after confirming that they're now friends but failing and smiling anyway, STILL blinking back years and she's still smiling down at the table until Andy asks about her eyebrows
Andy's face when Emily says "I ordered them" her fucking smile oh my god she's so happy that Emily has healthier eating habits now
sirius tracing remus' scars oh so gently under the morning sun, smiling at how his hair is a bit flattened on one side and sticks up in odd angles on the other. observing, memorizing, his smile widening as remus twitches when he carefully caresses his brow. moony's deep welsh accent greeting him with a quiet g'm'rning, sleepily pulling him closer by the small of his back; sirius whispering his love before he has fully awakened
