He leaned back, shifting a little on his seat. Lips pursed slightly, the thief shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, totally innocent. He didn’t know about a ring, and this time he was even honest - because hell, what was he supposed to do with some mother’s boring ring? “Haven’t seen a ring. Maybe it fell down?”
“Maybe...” It could have fallen. That was plausible enough, considering the size of the trays on this airplane. Even business class wasn’t roomy enough, which Adonis made peace with. He leaned down and turned on the flashlight on his phone to look, waiting to spot a gleam of the authentic diamond on the ring. Dammit, why had he taken it out? He just wanted to find a proper spot for it in his messenger bag; it’s been in his pocket since his mother gave it to him last-minute at the airport. He couldn’t lose it. “Shit...” he mumbled. “I was supposed to give that to my daughter.”
