Ryder was so hopeful that he had gotten away with skipping training with Zion after Robin vouched for him. It seemed like nepotism did a good deed that day, but then Daphne said that he needed some form of self-defense training anyway. It was probably for the best, considering Ryder hadn't properly trained since he was seventeen, but that last session was enough for him to never want to do it again. "That's Robin four to Zero."
After training his entire life with Robin and his mum, he failed his final test—the one that mattered the most, which was why he was now a medic instead of a gunner. Logically, Ryder knew that training with Zion would be nothing like training with Alisz, but even going inside the room with all the weapons brought him right back to one of the worst times of his life. "Hey," Ryder greeted Zion, a lot more lackluster than usual. He was dressed ready to go. His freshly dyed black hair was tied in a low ponytail and he was wearing cargo pants, a tank top and boots.
