The bell above the store’s door rang as the poet pushed it open. A sound that had grown so familiar, it sounded like home.
For as long as Ezra could remember, they were in the books. Always reading and rereading and rereading over again. So it wasn’t a surprise they always found themselves either working in a bookstore or library - aside from their odd freelancing job as a writer. The Lion’s Den was hiring; an opportunity the demigod took without hesitation. And fortunate for them, they could start right away.
It was a small and cozy store, just the way Ezra liked them. A quiet space they knew they could come to off the clock to read or write or just sit and enjoy the presence of books. The demigod inhaled deeply, taking in one of their favorite smells.
The poet walked further to the back, their crutches click-clacking against the hardwood floors. They walked up to seemingly the only other employee in today. They were about to call his attention and introduce themselves, when they realized he seemed familiar.
No, he was. Ezra knew this man!
A smile grew on their face as they realized, this strange island has now become more like a home.
“Tau? Is that you?”
