I'm a big tangle of happy-sad-content-longing to be home from a weekend in Birmingham. This weekend was so good for my soul. I took @jayarrarr to see Orr Park in Montevallo, AL. Montevallo isn’t where I grew up, but it’s really home to me. It’s where I went to college, and where I lived and worked for several years after graduating. Orr Park is known for its carved cedar trees. A local artist named Tim Tingle started carving trees that were killed during the “Blizzard of 1993.” The park is littered with dozens of faces, animal shapes, dragons, and a whole lot more. I think Jen has more photos than what I took, so maybe she’ll reblog this and add her own. The last photo makes me so happy. This girl is my light.
