Titiritera (& Burrito)

"A trick? Of course I know tricks!" Titiritera then smushed Burrito between her claws until he disappeared, tossed a ball of yarn into the air, grabbed it by the tail with her teeth and swung it around several times until hurling it forward. Burrito unraveled from the yarn and came to a perfect ten at the feet of Heatherwilt's chair, arms out and waiting for applause. Heatherwilt only stared down at him in silent scrutiny. "...That's not what I mean." "I got other tricks!" Titiritera offered helpfully, "I can curl myself into a ball and roll around, I can call burro burro burrito! and change him into a pig, I can -," "I meant when you're gonna lie," Heatherwilt said, his silence poisonous and reserved in its fear. "Huh?" Titiritera tilted her head, "I mean, I can tell a lie. I'm green and gold and sapphire, just like my gramma's ma's ma! There, see? Easy. I just lied." Heatherwilt shifted uncomfortably, upset at her antics, "No, that's not it either. Shadow dragons lie,, you all lie." Titiritera sat, perplexed but not enough to change her curiosity, "...Anybody can lie. Try it! Go on." Heatherwilt cringed and shook his head, "No. I already did." "What'dya lie about?" He was silent. Titiritera watched the discomfort and guilt eat away at him. After far too long of her four eyes burning into him, he finally sputtered. "I lied to my brother. I told him I thought he - that he was trying - that he wanted to - Someone told me he - ," Titiritera twisted her mouth. Well that was a big one. She didn't even have to hear the rest to know it was a big one. Still, she tried again. "Anyone can lie. Anyone can also make you lie by lying. Y'know?" she then put her claws on her hips and huffed, "So what's the big deal with all the shadow dragons huh?" Heatherwilt was quiet, internal, then guiltily muttered, "...Sorry." "Oh! Pish fit! Fishpit! That's not what I want! Look - look!" she insisted, and when Heatherwilt finally did Burrito burst into confetti with a squeaky pop so sudden he jolted with a shriek, "Boom! Dead!" Heatherwilt sat motionless on Dane, mouth agape. Titiritera let him sit in petrification for a minute more before reaching forward and yanking all of Burrito out of Heatherwilt's ear - despite the fact that Burrito was certainly bigger than the disabled fae. "Boom! Alive! Well," she shook Burrito by the tail, the lifeless burlap toy flopping comically in the air, "Mostly alive." Heatherwilt stared at her, stared at Burrito stiffening then crossing his arms in indignation at Titiritera. Then a small smile crept up his face, and Titiritera saw his muscles begin to relax. She grinned. "That's what I want!"
