Once Sam, Harry, Tom and Harrison stepped through the ember littered gates, they felt themselves dim in power.
Their beautiful, white feathered wings dropped in emotion, the brightness growing dark as the demons clawed at their feet. Tom had taken your warning to heart, not wanting himself to get burned, and watched his feet when he started following you down to your palace. Harrison growled at the hands trying to crawl out of the pits of fire, walking fast behind his king.
“What’re we even here for?” Harry asked Tom once they got past the burning flames into the hallway leading to the entrance doors.
“The angel that Zendaya mentioned, she’s...important.” He answered.
“Important? For what?” Sam questioned, fluttering his wings to get the ashes out of them. “Did you feed important information into her and didn’t watch her? If you did—”
“I know, Dad’s gonna have my bloody head.” He sighed, playing with the cuffs of his suit jacket. It was too hot. “We’ll be in and out. It’s gonna be quick, lads.”
Harry chuckled. “From the way you’re looking at the actual devil,” He nodded his head toward you. “This deal is going to take centuries.”
“Oh fuck off,” Tom groaned at his brother, quicking his steps toward you.
It was a long time ago, the memory. The Greek roads were filing around with different types of people; angels, demons, nymphs. Everyone was at peace.
You had accompanied your father on his trek to Earth for a meeting with the rest of the Gods. Hades had told you that you were to stay in Athens, explore, but not too much for the regulars around here to notice that you were his daughter. You abided by his rules, of course, and stayed roaming the less crowded streets.
You found a bookstore right near the outskirts. It was quaint and quiet, the sound of the entrance bell ringing interrupting the silence. You marvelled at the arrays of books in front of you, thumbing the spines of the worn books. You hugged your cloak tighter when you walked further, analyzing each cover.
“That’s my favorite,” A honeyed voice jumped at you, making your wings flutter out of their hiding space. If you hadn’t moved back, they would’ve knocked the two bookshelves near you down. You looked up, closing your raven wings, eyes meeting with a pair of soft, whiskey colored orbs.
“Did I scare you? I’m so sorry,” The boy apologized.
“It-It’s fine.” You stuttered, looking toward the book he pointed at. “Romeo and Juliet, huh?” You picked it up, finger tracing over the gold letters. “A classic. I’ve got to say—it’s one of mines too.”
“I’m sorry, but I’ve got to ask—are-are you a demon?” His eyes seemed to trail each feather behind your back, while yours traced each brown curl of his.
You put the book back, tracing the lettering. “Yes,” You whispered.
“I’ve never met one before,” He walked toward you.
“Well, it’s not everyday that one of us approaches an angel, is it?” You chuckled back at him, eyeing his flushed state.
“How did you know? I-I—”
“You’re wearing white robes and that gold emblem on your shoulder represents Heaven.” You told him. “Pretty obvious—”
“Tom.” He finished for you.
“Tom. I’m Y/N.”
You opened the grand, ebony doors, gold handles growing hot to your touch. The servant cleaning your knight armors cowered when he saw you enter, bowing his head before continuing to shuffle along the maroon walls.
You sauntered over to meeting room over to your right, paying no attention to the goblins walking through the palace with things to attend to. Tom cringed when he accidentally bumped into one, muttering a “sorry”, before getting glowered at.
Once everyone filed into the room, Zendaya closed the door slowly. She stood by it, watching the conversation take place.
“Where is she?” Tom inquired when you sat down, his fingers curling around the sides of the dark wooded table.
“The angel?” You laughed. “What, is she your lover or something?”
“She might be,” Sam answered for Tom, your Y/E/C orbs flickering to him. Your chest tightened at the thought. “We don’t even know,”
“Fantastic,” You breathed. “I believe one of my guards has already plucked most of the feathers on one wing, but I’m not...sure,”
“What-What do you mean?” Tom asked. “Plucking?”
“Oh you’ve been here before!” You groaned. “Remember, each of your fallen angels gets its wings plucked because I, and the council, don’t want them flying out of here.” You snapped.
“Fuck,” His digits flew to his hair, his wings fluttering in a form of anger.
“The angels that had their wings plucked are apart of my staff. They’re...fine, or whatever, they work.” Your eyes loomed over his stressed figure. “The one you’re looking for, I, personally, haven’t dealt with her yet. Do you want her brought up here or would you like to go to the dungeons, Thomas?”
“Bring her up,” Harry said.
“Of course,”
