I need to talk about the unexpected question Taiga asked MC (Analysis)

When Taiga asked MC, “You got a man?”, I couldn’t help but wonder if he was trying to gauge whether she was romantically available. Maybe it was an early sign that he was interested in her himself. Before getting emotionally invested or making a move, perhaps he wanted to know if someone else was already in her life.

If his only goal had been to distract or calm MC down because she was under pressure, he could’ve asked literally anything else. But instead, he asked: “You got a man?” (Or another meaning: “A boyfriend?” or “Experience with… you-know-what?” 🛏️)

That doesn’t feel like random teasing to me. His expression also stands out. He isn’t smiling or joking around: He looks serious and focused, which makes the question feel more genuine than playful.

I like how Taiga reacts when MC asks what’s gotten into him if you choose the 3rd option, he actually seems caught off guard before laughing at how flustered she is. Though, he brushes it off with, “Well, it doesn’t matter. Everything’s screwed anyway.”

I interpreted that as: “There’s no point dwelling on relationships when we might not make it out of this.”

And that made me think… if Taiga believes they’re all doomed, why bother letting yourself love someone if you’re just going to lose them? Maybe he avoids getting attached because losing someone would hurt too much. That’s why I loved seeing Taiga slowly open up to MC. It shows how much he trusts her. Elias even said that maybe he’s been waiting for someone to believe him, and I can’t help but feel like MC is the one person willing to do that when no one else will.

Which makes his Affinity 25 voice line hit harder: “You’re not getting away from me, kitten. You’re here till death do us part, whether you like it or not.”

JP ver: "I'm not letting you go, kitten. It's already decided that you'll be here with me until death do us part."

That’s literally a wedding vow.

To me, it feels like his mindset changes. Instead of “What’s the point of loving someone if the world is fcked?” it becomes: “Even if the world is fcked, I still have you. You’re staying with me until death do us part.”

If anything, once Taiga falls for MC, he seems to realize that love isn’t meaningless because death is inevitable, it’s because life is uncertain that he chooses to hold onto the person he loves. Like he seems to believe that love is something worth holding onto even if death is inevitable.

Trapped in a Locker: Sinostra Edition (SFW)

Taiga had nothing to hide from. He was in an impassive daze when you shoved him into a locker to hide. His distant gaze cleared and settled on you curiously, one eyebrow raised. He settled against the wall when you pressed yourself against him, unable to find space anywhere else. A contented, yet mocking smile stretched across his lips when darkness settled over the two of you. 

“So desperate to get me alone, huh kitten?” His voice was low, out of the desire to get under your skin more than to hide from an anomaly he might not have even noticed. 

“Shut up! There’s an anomaly on the loose and your gun was confiscated.” 

Taiga grabbed your chin, clicking his tongue to scold you. “Excuses, excuses. I know what you really want.” His kiss was hard and forceful, hungry and insistent. His tongue slid against yours when you opened your mouth in surprise. You were caught between him and an anomaly, certain he was the more dangerous of the two, but vastly preferable. His wandering hands and mouth thrilled you, but you were afraid of what violations Ritsu would rattle off if he caught you with Taiga in this state. 

You didn’t want the kiss to end, but the fear of getting caught or overheard won the battle. Pushing against Taiga’s chest only spurred him on. His hold on you tightened and his sharp teeth grazed against your lip, sinking into the plump flesh hard enough to break skin. He lapped at the coppery taste before pulling back, nowhere near satisfied. 

Romeo Lucci

Romeo was furious. The plan had gone awry from the start, all thanks to Taiga and his inability to follow simple instructions that didn’t match his whim. Now Romeo was stuck in a closet, wearing far too many layers. Sweat beaded on his neck, and he tried his best not to wrinkle his pricy clothes. Easier said than done, since he was sharing the space with you, of all people. 

You, with your pretty eyes and sweet smell. It made him angrier, he was sure your incompetence was partly to blame for this undignified position he found himself in with you. 

“Stop moving around! You’re getting my jacket wrinkled.” 

You didn’t even know he was capable of whispering until now, although it was a whispered yell. Technicality. 

“Don’t wear your overpriced junk on missions, then,” you shot back. You could feel his livid stare better than you could see it. 

“Quality suits are not overpriced! You Philistines don’t know anything about-“ 

You had found several ways to shut him up by now. Slamming the door in his face, muting his messages, saying something so completely unhinged he didn’t know where to begin. Your proximity left you with an untested method you gladly seized. Your lips were on his, halting his words in their tracks. When he didn’t push you away, you pulled him in by his tie, noticing he angled his head to deepen the kiss. When you parted, he stood there in silent wonder, sluggishly realizing that you successfully shut him up again. 

“Damn you, BB.” 

Ritsu Shinjo

Safety measures, scenarios and statistics ran through Ritsu’s mind while he focused on anything but your proximity. He escorted you to the locker like a gentleman, clearly stating that you were both entering the enclosed space voluntarily to avoid injury, and he was not liable for any such injuries sustained once you were inside. 

Yet, he kept getting distracted any time you shifted. Brushing against his legs and chest. He did his best not to touch you, but that was impossible under the circumstances. He was ready to shift in case the locker opened, to use his stigma to protect you. He moved closer to whisper for you to shift to the back so he could protect you, but you turned your head at the same time and your lips brushed against each other’s. He jolted back as if you shocked him. He glanced at your lips, feeling heat rise to his cheeks. 

“Apologies,” he whispered. He gently shifted you so his back faced the door, but the mood had already shifted between you. He kept his hands on your shoulder and waist, where they had rested to guide you. You shared a lingering look with him, each gauging your embarrassment and the possibility that you liked it. You moved first, pulling his tie and angling your lips toward his. 

“For good luck,” you whispered. He accepted your flimsy excuse, not being the kind of man who relied on luck. It was your motivation that convinced him. He allowed himself to be pulled in, thankful he hadn’t activated his stigma yet and could still feel your soft lips on his, and the way your body molded into him. He certainly considered you more than a business partner for a while, and this was incentive to initiate more once the situation allowed for it.

MC falls in love with Taiga, so her wish is to stay with him even after she turns into a Kyklos herself. Instead of killing her, she wishes that he would simply devour her, as she'd rather become a part of him than cease to exist entirely.

And Taiga keeps that promise or something like that, I don't know. It just suddenly came to mind.
