“Can We Really Party Today? No. 4″
I have this folder on my desktop that holds just about 100 images that all came from this shoot I did last April. The images were a mess, poorly exposed? shoddily developed? bad film? I’m not totally sure, but I do believe that part of the issue at least with some of the images is that I was using 30 year old T-Max 3200 shot at 1600. Maybe I should have shot this film at more like 400, all I know is that even just looking at the edges of the negatives I can see all kinds of flaws. When I first scanned these negatives I was new to working on the Epson V600 scanner and didn’t really know how to fix anything that didn’t immediately come out looking right. So as I came across these strips which I couldn’t quite get to look right I dropped them in this folder... you know to fix later. I’ve never really had that time to go back and fix those shots but there is some beautiful stuff in there if only I can unlock it. This shot of Alissa is so good, it took some careful work to get it to look like this but the story I’ve told myself over the years is that all that matters is the emotion of the image and not the technical specifics.
