The Man who speaks in hands...
Happy 10th anniversary, undertale 🌼
My "Theory of Everything" connecting UT and DR!
Ok so here is EVERYTHING that i believe about Deltarune so prepare for a rant, Ill try to make it as structured as possible.
So, the Roaring Knight is Dess, but there's more to it than just that.
Looking at its design, we can clearly see the horns on its head and recognize the shape of the horns of the Holiday family, the slim shape with three short ends, but much spikier.
Now, this led many to believe that Rudy was the Roaring Knight, also supported by the fact that he has a chronic illness which could stem from his powers taking a toll on his health. I personally dont feel like this theory is true, it just seems to shallow for Toby Fox. Also, Kris and Susie both have crazy powers in the Dark World so I have a hard time believing that it would only affect Rudy in such a way, but not the kids for some reason.
But do we have a Holiday family member that isn't present in the game? Dess. Does said Holiday have a "spikier", punkier and more of an outcast personality than the others? Yes she has, and that is in fact relevant to the shape of the horns, you can compare with Carol and how spiky her horns are.
Now, i do NOT think that Dess went rouge and wants to kill humanity, that wouldnt make sense.
But i have a theory.
In chapter 4, we enter Dess room. Her room has a very specific color palette, the exact same palette as Kris does in the Dark World. Dess also has the code to the bunker inside her guitar, which is a weird thing to keep as a teenager.
I think that our soul is, in fact, Dess soul. And i believe that before Kris became the one thats able to seal dark fountains, the role was assigned to Dess.
She probably did all the same things Kris does, and was really dedicated to her duty, going as far as decorating her room as her appearance in the Dark World to feel like she was there, even when she wasnt. I mean, i dont really think that her mom respected her style and choices looking at how strict Carol is with family image. In the Dark World, Dess was actually appreciated, she was a hero.
But then something went wrong. I think that she got stabbed, possibly with the same knife that Kris is carrying around, or maybe she just fell into one of the fountains she was about to seal, and her body became infested with darkness. Her Soul made an escape, leaving the body and concience to get taken over.
There are theories about the voice in the games code, that it supposedly is Dess, and i think that that theory fits into my vision. Her saying that she doesnt know where she is and how dark it is, its possible that it is her concience talking from inside the Knight.
The timeframe for this happening seems to work. Based on my memories of interactions in chapter 4, i got the impression that Asgore got fired pretty recently. I can only assume that the loss of his job is linked to the dissapearence of Dess, based on the weird scene of Asgore in the Holidays' basement being directly after the events in Dess room.
So if Asgore got fired recently, that must mean that the dissapearence was recent as well. Lets assume that the soul inhabits Kris approximately when the game starts, then the events happen in the right sequence with a short time interval between eachother.
I think that the promise that Kris supposedly made to the Roaring Knight is that they are going to help him start the Roaring, and get their own soul back in return. Now we are done with the Roaring Knight, NEXT THEORY!I believe that Mike is none other than Gaster, that his death in Undertale was part of his own plan and that the Dark World was his true project.
Asgore in Undertale had a main objective and was ready to do anything to reach it, the objective being to set the monsters free from their imprisonment. Gaster was the head of Science in the underworld under Asgore and i dont think that its much of a stretch to assume that he would help with that objective. We already know that Gaster had projects that werent disclosed to the player directly, such as Sans' Gaster Blasters.
Knowing how much of Undertale revolves around timelines and resets, and the fact that Sans is aware of timelines, it would make sense that Sans had told Gaster about them, if he wasnt already able to feel them himself. And maybe, Gaster remembered the whole reason they were imprisoned: the war between the two races. If the monsters had won, they would be free.
Gaster got to searching. He searched for a way to reach the timeline where they had won, and all their current citizens were alive, and so he found Deltarune, an anagram for Undertale and Asgore's dream timeline.
He found a way to travel to it, through complete darkness. That was the Dark World, a middle ground between worlds where darkness melts everything together, that blends every mother in your life to the Universal Mother (sounds familiar?), that blends objects in every room, that blends your dreams of getting friends with people you know (Ralsei), that lets people travel through it and create homes for them (old man gerson is from Undertale, i dont even have to argue for it).
The Dark World blends every dream and relationship and memory and object and creates a dark pathway between worlds.
And Gaster started travelling through it, but in order to create that world in the first place required him to not be in his physical body. So he got shattered across time and space, being half of what he was in both worlds. Thats why he dissapears when you find him behind the grey door, how could be do that unless he still existed, but wasnt "alive" physically?
Gaster found people in the Dark World that he thought could help him, or possibly just wanted allies, introducing himself as a genius named Mike to brilliant minds that appeared in the Dark World. He promised fame and success but never predicted how hard his non existent presence would affect them. Person after person, Spamton, Jevil, Tenna, they all went insane after meeting Gaster, and he had to find new people.
This explains why Mike just drives people insane and leaves. He needs help, a physical person to help with connecting the two timelines (look up how the tv series Lost ended with the timelines, kind of like that.).
That is all for now, ask questions and correct me, alternatively give me more proof that i can use!!!
Aiai como eu amo esse jogo...
