Nibbles Maplestick: my tomboy queen
It wasn't until I rewatched a scene a few days ago that I realised Nibbles was a female beaver!
For some reason, my mind just assumed she was male due to her weird mannerisms and I want to hit myself!!! Shame on me! However, I will admit that I miss details sometimes when I watch movies in theatres. It's hard for me to hear the dialogue sometimes.
Disney could have easily made Nibbles non-binary or trans, and I am so glad they didn't. It's so refreshing to see a genuine tomboy on screen, a female character who isn't degraded for not being traditionally feminine. She's a comedic character but she's not a joke and she has value in the plot. A female character who is unashamedly herself without a big deal being made about it.
Man, Disney definitely delivered with Zootopia 2. Hope Disney can keep up the good work (doubt it but here's to hoping).
