Request: “Choni fic request! - Toni gets left/stays behind after saving Cheryl from SOQM, and how they deal with that?”
A/N: I hope I did this request justice! I’m so sorry that it took so long! It’s not my best, I really tried and idk why it didn’t turn out as well as I was hoping but I hope you enjoy!
It was supposed to be a happy ending. The plan was to find Cheryl and get the hell out of the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and never look back. But in this plan we didn’t consider the concerningly massive number of nuns stashed in the building, who filled the halls after the alarm signalled our presence in their building.
“There’s no way we can make it back to the tunnel we entered from. We have to find another way out,” Veronica shouted as we ran down a hallway looking for a way out. We ran by a room with a window leading outside and we all came to a halt, looking at each other with knowing glances before running into the room. I found a rock on the ground and threw it at the window, bits of glass shattering everywhere. Veronica grabbed a nearby crate and pushed it to the window before climbing on top and trying to climb out of the window. We quickly realized the crate wasn’t tall enough and we were running out of time.
“Veronica, I’ll hoist you up but we have to hurry,” I said. I quickly held out my hands and she stepped on them, allowing me to hoist her out the window. One down, two to go. But then we heard footsteps. I knew there was only enough time for one more person to get out of the window before the nuns got to us. Cheryl knew too.
She turned to face me, nothing but fear and guilt flooding her face. “Cheryl,” I pleaded, “I’ll be okay. Go. Please go.” I heard the clicking of shoes on the tile floor quickly getting louder as they approached seemingly faster and faster. I quickly hoisted Cheryl up to the window against her protests and Veronica grabbed her hand and pulled her out.
“I will find you. I will be back for you. I promise.” She shouted at me urgently as Veronica pulled her away and the nuns grabbed a hold of me. I tried to fight back but a needle was forced into my arm and then everything went dark.
That was three days ago. Three agonizing days full of gloom and electroshock and vaccinations I don’t need. At least Cheryl is safe, but I’m losing hope that I’ll ever be.
“It’s been three fucking days, how long does it take you to come up with escape plan?” I demanded, glaring at Sweet Pea, Fangs, and Veronica as I entered the student lounge. “Jesus, Cheryl, we’re just as worried as you are but this is risky business, you have to be patient or we may not be able to get Topaz out safely,” Sweet Pea explained, trying to stay calm. “The possible love of my life has been living in a literal nightmare for three days and you expect me to be patient?!” I blurted out without thinking. I gasped and covered my mouth as soon as I realized what I had said.
Fangs, Sweet Pea, and Ronnie stared at me with shocked expressions on their face (Ronnie’s expression seemed to have a tint of jealousy to it but I decided to ignore it). Fangs was the first to speak up: “I...uh...you love her?” He questioned softly. “Yeah, I think I might...” I said in a near-whisper, eager to move past what I had just said, “...so can we please just fucking rescue her already? I want her safe... I don’t know what I would do if-” my voice cracked, keeping me from continuing.
Sweet Pea opened his mouth to speak this time. “We love her too, Cheryl. Let’s get her out of there. We leave tonight. Here’s the plan…”
Another night in this hell-hole and I don’t know how much longer I can take this agony. We head to movie night and I find myself praying to myself that Cheryl will find me like I did to her when she was at movie night. Suddenly I hear it.
Maybe it’s because of all those shots they’re giving me?
“Toni?” She runs into the movie room looking around for me.
I shoot out of my seat. “Cheryl? Is that really you?” Her face fills with relief as she takes me into her arms. She pulls away and looks into my eyes, hers filled with adoration. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”
We raced through the hallways, her grip on my hand tight, as if she feared me disappearing at any moment. Surprisingly, we made it to the tunnel this time and quickly escaped, feeding a crowbar through the door so the nuns couldn’t come after us. I muttered a quick hello and a thank you to both Sweet Pea and Fangs as Cheryl and I each hopped on the back of their motorcycles and we sped off to safety. It was supposed to be a happy ending, and it was, because the love of my life, (yes, I said it) Cheryl Marjorie Blossom rescued me.
