I'm on skimmons withdrawal! You gotta write something!
Well, anon, here is a random little drabble I wrote based on some feels I had after watching 3x11. There’s really no plot or purpose to this, I just wanted a little bit of Skimmons fluff. I hope this helps with the withdrawal! I feel your pain!
Daisy smells like being outside: like sunshine and baked asphalt, like wind and dried grass twisted inside her hair. Jemma wakes the second that Daisy slips into bed beside her and she rolls around to face her, to bury her face in the crook of Daisy’s neck and just smell her. Daisy slips an arm around her waist and they fit together effortlessly, silence settling down around them. Jemma sighs, her breath ghosting across Daisy’s collar bone, smiling slightly when she feels Daisy shiver against her.
“Hi.” Daisy says against the crown of her head and these are the moments that Jemma misses the most, when it’s just the two of them doing nothing at all.
Jemma lifts her head. “Hi yourself.” She kisses the tip of Daisy’s nose and her skin is still warm, her cheeks colored from the sun. “Did you just get back?”
Daisy nods. “Yeah, we touched down about ten minutes ago.” She shrugs. “Coulson wanted to de-brief but I told him I needed to get some sleep before I quaked the whole place down.” She smirks, clearly amused by herself. “I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“I’m glad you did.” Jemma assures her, reaching up to tame a stray twist of hair by tucking it behind Daisy’s ear. “I missed you. And I was worried about you. Especially with the Inhuman…well, the not so good one.”
“I’m fine.” Daisy assures her. “It’s going to take a lot more than that to shake me up.”
Rather than rewarding Daisy’s ridiculous pun with a laugh, Jemma just rolls her eyes and shakes her head. “Ah, yes, the bravado. A superhero’s number one weapon.”
“Who wants to be bullet proof when you have sarcasm?” Daisy questions. “Obviously that would be way more effective.”
Jemma shakes her head. “I think I would prefer it if you were bullet proof.” She informs Daisy frankly. “Then I’d probably worry less when you go off on missions and do ridiculous things that almost get you killed.”
“Well, the feeling is mutual Miss Let-Me-Infiltrate-Hydra.” Daisy replies. “And I told you that you don’t have to worry about me.” She strokes her fingers softly along the curve of Jemma’s elbow and upper arm, making her shiver and sigh at the contact. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”
Jemma takes Daisy’s hand, kissing her fingers softly. “No inclinations to run off to Bogotá with mysterious Inhumans?”
“If I did, who would buy the gluten free biscuits?” Daisy smirks as she mimics Jemma words, giving the final one a little touch of a terrible accent just to force an eye roll. Which is exactly what she gets, along with a playful pop on the shoulder. “What? I love those things.”
“You do not.” Jemma rolls her eyes once more for good measure. “I believe you’re the one who said they tasted like cardboard? Hmm?”
Daisy shrugs, rolling onto her back and pulling Jemma closer against her. Jemma lays her head on Daisy’s chest, letting her eyes flutter closed briefly as she listens to the sound of Daisy’s heart beating, reassuringly, just below her ear.
“Well, they kinda do.” Daisy replies. “Next time we go on a mission, you have to come with us. Then we can play hooky and get some real dessert somewhere.”
Jemma quirks an eyebrow. “Playing hooky from saving the world? Daisy Johnson, I’m shocked.”
Daisy leans in to kiss her softly, the touch fleeting and leaving Jemma desperate for more. She wasn’t even sure if she’d see Daisy tonight, if they’d have any time together or if they’d just pass in the hallways or have to get in their personal time in during mission briefings.
“Well, for the right person, I think I could totally get behind playing hooky.” Daisy assures her, kissing her again. “It’d be worth it.”
When Daisy kisses her, that outside, sun smell is back. It washes over her, making her feel bathed in warmth, even while Daisy’s kisses make her feel like she’s seeing stars.
