Being off the methotrexate means I can once again enjoy a glass of lovely wine if I like. This Syrah was a neat find at a Trader Joe's tasting - it's a relaxing way to wind down the evening. 💕🎶#wine #redwine #syrah #traderjoeswine #reclaimingmylife

PRIMITIIIIIIIVO:
This label is WEAK. Taste like yogurt covered raisins. Creamy, raisiny, Zinfandelly... GOD DAMMIT. This was supposed to be rosé May. Not shitty zinfandel time. I totally failed at buying wine this week. It's weak week.
Oxford companion to Wine says:
Primitivo: name of a red grape variety grown principally in APULIA in southern Italy, so extensively that it's 42,000 acres made it Italy's ninth most planted vine variety in 1990 (Negroamaro is a step ahead).
Most wines lables primitivo are notably alcoholic and this grape was traditionally used to add weight to northern reds.
Lazy Bones 2011 Cab Franc and Archeos Nero d' Avola:
I blindly compared these and realized I had made a good move. Lets be honest here, I don't know ANYTHING bout wine. I took up an interest four months ago and am trying to figure out the stuff. I thought comparing two reds (one I've had numerous times) would help me pick out flavors, aromas, and all that other bullshit.
The flavor thing is really hard for me. I took a wine class about a month ago and the instructor was really cool. She basically told the class not listen to all the snobby bullshitters out there. What you taste and smell in wine is your own experience and that's what makes it cool.
Every time I go to TJs I get the Lazy Bones Cab. It's tart, medium bodied and easy. Before I tried learning anything about wine I choose my bottles based on their label. This bottle is a good example... Lazy Bones speaks to me. It's not a particularly good wine... it's okay.
Archeo Nero d' Avola looks like diner wine. In fact it has to be. Fuck Carlo Rossi, this shit is perfect. It's sweet and light like a red zin. My wino aunt would love this shit. Nero d' Avola is a grape that I've never had before. I will probably not be exploring it again.
