My Personal WatcherAU Part 7: EVO SMP
I still have not come up with a name. Curse me. I will eventually I swear.
Welcome back! As promised in my previous post, this post is gonna be about EvoSMP! Now, this is going to be a hefty post where I will be explaining the importance of Evo SMP and its members in my AU. (And will be mostly a long yap session)
So...first and foremost, why was Evo created? The Supremes created Evo for the same reason They would later create the Life Series, to feed their hunger. They severely underestimated how hungry They actually were. The Supremes apparently didn't know that a cute SMP server where the world updates after a while would NOT be a great source of chaos and destruction.
The Supremes were initially disappointed. But They soon realized They could use the server for other things. So They started using the Server as a way to groom the players into becoming Watchers.
So They focused on keeping the Server as protected as They possibly could. It was almost entirely a secret operation. (Even the regular Watchers didn't know about it.)
Everything was going well until a certain person just fell from the Moon into the Server.
Who was this player who seamlessly broke through their defenses? Oh it was Pearl.
Pearl sorta just brute forces her way into the server. (She got really curious).
Now Pearl, as I have stated before, is a Rogue. She is actually one of the most powerful Rogues in existence. She can break through world barriers with ease and can pretty much access any server she wishes to access, and she saw this seemingly cute server and just decided to join it. Her only limitation is that her powers are tied to night and the moon. She is at her most powerful during a full moon, not as powerful during a new moon, and her powers have a major nerf during the day to the point where she can't freely enter different servers.
The Supremes started panicking a little bit. They're secret operation wasn't as secret as They thought. Thankfully, They managed to trap Pearl in the server so she couldn't just leave if she got suspicious (this will be the beginning of Pearl and the Supremes' very weird and complex relationship).
After They managed to neutralize Pearl, They felt a lot better, and They continued Their mission. The three Evolutionists They had Their sights on the most were Grian, BigB, and Netty, and They decided that those three were most eligible to become Watchers, and the Watchers managed to keep the fact that They were evil a secret. They would interact with the players, but never exposed what They were actually doing.
But something was wrong...horribly wrong. There was another force at play.
The Listeners!
The Listeners had figured out what the Supremes were planning to do with the server, and they knew they had to stop it.
Grian went a little crazy and built a shrine for his friend, Taurtis. So the Listeners decided it would be a great idea to play a hand into the server.
Taurtis had always been an interesting player to them, and they decided he would be a great Listener, a great player to use to infiltrate Evo and help take down the Watchers.
So Taurtis joined the server, and the Listeners transformed him into a Listener (it was definitely not painful) and they gave him the vague task of "Get closer to the Watchers". He had absolutely no idea what he was doing or what that meant but he went along with it.
He eventually figured out that the Supremes were evil, but the Supremes were Watching the whole time, and kidnapped him before he could alert everyone else.
Everyone assumed that something terrible happened to Taurtis and pronounced him dead. Mini was the only one who tried investigating his disappearance, but he found nothing. He slowly gets obsessed with finding Taurtis to the point of going a little insane.
The Listeners failed, and they lost someone they thought could be valuable to them. This leads to them being a lot more weary when it comes to selecting new Listeners or allies.
So the Listeners shifted to a less direct approach. They communicated with the other player they trusted most, Martyn, oh and Jimmy was there too. They planted seeds of doubt into Martyn and got him to trust the Supremes less.
Now after Taurtis came and went, the Supremes were beginning to see the facade crack. They knew the Listeners were going to try to turn the players against them so They needed a safety blanket, so they turned to BigB.
The Supremes were planning to make Grian a Watcher after the end fight. They had been observing him for a really long time and knew that he would be the perfect addition to the Watchers, but They didn't know what to do after that happened.
So They basically had a personal conversation with BigB. They warned him that another force was at play that would turn all the players against Them. If They managed to get BigB on Their side then They could have someone who would remain loyal to Them while the others starting putting their trust in the Listeners.
Then the End Fight happened. All the players went to fight the dragon at the same time except for BigB, who was making his official "deal" with the Watchers, and Mini, who was out looking for Taurtis one last time.
After the end fight Grian was taken as a Watcher and the original spawn was destroyed, and the remaining Evolutionists were forced to leave. The Listeners left an enderchest for them so they could take more items with them. This was the first time the Listeners interacted with all of the players.
The rest of Evo pretty much goes as follows: the Listeners are slowly pushing the Evolutionists away from the Watchers (with help from Martyn and Jimmy (mainly Martyn), while also slowly but surely gaining more influence over the server and trying to help the players escape. BigB is the only one who (secretly) remains close to the Watchers and silently sabotages each escape attempt. Unbeknownst to him, the Watchers are manipulating him so They could keep everyone trapped on the Server, and They actually are simply pure evil.
Then the End of Evo...here we go.
Martyn and Netty are finally able to find a portal, and try to evacuate everyone from off the server.
But someone doesn't trust it...BigB.
BigB tries to convince everyone that escaping through the portal wouldn't lead to anything good. The other Evolutionists are able to put two and two together and realize BigB had been betraying them the whole time. There was a bunch of arguing and fighting and a lot of chaos in general. The Server starts crumbling, and everyone makes a dash to escape.
Only Pearl, Jimmy, and Martyn manage to get through the portal before it closes.
Tom, Salem, Netty, Mini, Zee, and BigB are left trapped in Evo as the Server is actively crumbling.
The remaining Evolutionists rightly get mad at BigB for lying to them for all this time (and consider just straight up killing him, but Tom dissuades them).
So the rest of Evo for the remaining Evolutionists is a cat and mouse game, with them running away from the Watchers as the Server slowly closes in on itself (imagine the six of them in some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland only delaying their inevitable demise). The Watchers were just toying with them (this was the most fun They'd had in years), but the Evolutionists refused to give up.
They are eventually driven back to the old spawn as the Void is closing in around them. The Watchers had grown tired, and gave each of the Evolutionists the option to join them or die. They specifically set their sights on Netty and BigB, but everyone vehemently refused, so the Watchers were left with no choice but to kill them. And so, the Server was officially deleted, and the Evolutionists drifted into the Void never to be seen again.
Except for BigB.
BigB didn't read the fine print of the deal he made with the Watchers and now They partially own his soul...so that's great! No one's doing it like him 😭✌🏾 (The Watchers kinda got attached to him and didn't want to just leave him to die with the other Evolutionists, and since Grian had betrayed the Watchers to join Hermitcraft, They didn't want to leave EvoSMP with literally no progress whatsoever, so they had to improvise).
So They kinda just leave him in the deepest depths of the Watcher Realm, beginning his descent into insanity. The Watchers will end up using him as a way to, yet again, infiltrate the Life Series when it happens so the Watchers had a more subtle, yet direct way of playing a hand into the Games. They will eventually get fed up and force him to become a Watcher, but that's way down the line.
By the time Evo ends, Taurtis is officially dead (he died in the Watcher Realm) and Grian has run off to Hermitcraft Season 6. Martyn, Jimmy, and Pearl run off and do their own things in other Servers free from the Supremes' immediate watch, believing all of the other Evo Members to be dead. The Listeners eventually find Martyn again and officially turn him into a Listener.
In conclusion, Evo was a failed project. The Watchers failed to groom as many Watchers as They could and the Listeners failed at successfully infiltrating the Server and flipping it on its head. The Living Evolutionists (aka the Evo Lifers) had to deal with the consequences of what was (almost) completely out of their control. Everyone's lives somehow go downward from here to the point where you would probably consider the other Evolutionists who suffered unfortunate, premature deaths lucky.
And thus concludes EvoSMP!
Thank you if you read through this LOOOOOOOOONG post (HOLY YAP OMFG)! If you have any questions feel free to ask me! Please, if you are confused on something, just ask me, cause I keep reading through this and I feel like my head's gonna explode trying to understand any of it.
