What if...

Trans!Silco is utterly repulsed by the idea of parenthood, because he's always associated it in his mind with pregnancy and having to actually give birth, and he doesn't fully understand and embrace parenthood until he adopts Powder and realizes that he could enjoy being a parent - a father - without betraying his sense of self.

The thought of him ever having to go through with having a biological child makes him uncomfortable for many reasons - it could change how the people he trusts view him. It could reaffirm what the bigots think of him - as some dirty little thing who needed to learn his lesson by getting knocked up. His body would change, and he'd hate it.

But it's hard because the way Vander is so family oriented and he's just... not... kills him. When Felicia announces she's pregnant with Vi, he's happy for her truly but inwardly panics. It's not happening to him. It's happening to her, but Vander looks so happy and he's reminded of what his body can do but that he so desperately doesn't want it to do...

He just shuts down. Puts some distance between himself and Felicia and Connol. Says he's got to focus on the cause. Any time Vander brings up the girls and how much they're growing and what a good mother Felicia is to them, he changes the subject. He barely sees them. The girls don't really know him.

A bitterness between Vander and Silco rises because of it. A misunderstanding, too. Vander thinks Silco just doesn't care enough about anyone else. That he willingly sacrificed Felicia and Connol for his grand plan for Zaun. That Silco was heartless to their children. So he felt justified in putting his hands on Silco who he saw as a monster.

Really, Silco couldn't cope with everyone changing around him. He felt Vander wanted a family that he knew he couldn't provide him with at the time. Not without a severe impact on his sanity. He never wanted to distance himself from everyone. It just hurt him too much to see Vander that happy surrounded by his nieces.

Then Powder comes into his life. And that changes everything. The entire concept of being a parent changes for him. It's not an instinct to mother that he was told he was born with. This child didn't view him as such. She just needed someone, and she chose him and she calls him her dad and that turns his gender dysphoria into euphoria.

So, he almost does a 180. It's a dad thing to teach your child to braid their hair. It's a dad thing to paint her nails. He'll save all of her artwork, because that's what good dads do. It changes how he thinks about his body, too, understanding that regardless if he physically carried a child he would still be a father and who cares if anyone thought different.

Headcanons:

I want to preface this by saying that if i take a liking in a male character in a show /movie, they have the trans badge bestowed upon them , so yeah...

Silco and Viktor are both ftm, and their top surgeries were done by non other than Singed , thus:

TW mild scars desc.

silco's are far less "aesthetically pleasing" because singed didn't have the experience, and Viktor's look more professionally done , bc singed had time to practice. Also he invented some kinda hrt shimmer and is the only person that can provide gender affirming care in the undercity...

So if you're trans in zaun, they kinda have a phrase like: do u know who singed is , like r u a friend of dorothy but... It's used to recognise other trans folks in public :3

Update: i like jayce now too. You know what that means. Since he's a lil chonky goober top surgery really didn't do much, so he's not totally flat and has some tissue left (it forms his gorgeous pecs)

His scars are stretched, because he worked out too early into the healing process. They're almost faded now, but still visible. Viktor likes to caress them as a form of aftercare, since Jayce gets dysphoric easily.

Silco was trans femme/nonbinary before the river trauma is my current favourite headcanon. Seen here hanging out at the last drop before it got gentrified.

I posted this before (sorry!) but I posted the wrong image and forgot to shout out the inspiration which was mainly @ghost-orion ‘s Girl Talk (I won’t tell) which I highly recommend and introduced me to this premise beautifully. Also loosely @owepossum ‘s This Devotion May Cause Side Effects which puts Silco in a dress (for disguise purposes) and nicknames him Mami but I don’t believe he is actually trans in it (I may be wrong!). Also recommended!

T4T zaundads except it’s just transmasc ultra man Vander secure in his identity comfortable after top surgery trans rights icon x I think I’m a woman ??? Silco who is still still a little too nervous to wear dresses in public or buy a bra but is pretty sure it’s a phase (it’s not)
