In light of recent events and shortcomings of certain individuals entrusted to serve and protect, it's important for us to take a moment and humble ourselves. No one can claim to be an expert at something they've never done or say they know how they would react in a situation they've never experience. We pray to never have to draw down on someone, pull that trigger, and end a life to save another because there's nothing glorious about that. We would all love to live in a world where violence never rears its ugly head but the truth is that it's out there there are those predisposed to commit it.
The will to commit violence will never be stopped by eliminating the means in which to commit it. Understandably, most people are not comfortable with violence. Instinctively, most people retreat from threats. Fortunately, the best among us confront them, with violence, and are skilled in the use of force.
I have the utmost respect for those that put their life on the line to protect others and serve their community. That being said, if you wear uniform everyday you’d best be prepared to do your job and serve those that depend on you. If you carry a firearm on you, whether it be for work or personal protection, it would be incumbent upon upon you to put in the time and ensure that you can deploy that weapon effectively. Skill takes practice, practice takes repetition, repetition takes commitment, and that commitment takes discipline. We do this because “it’s the one percent you can’t screw up.”
