My Archive of Our Own Wrap-up

I wanted to put together a thank you to all the fanfic writers who have gotten me through this year.

This wrap-up is me going through my history month by month to see which fics I’d visited the most (because you can be damn sure I read through them over several days, again and again).

So this is a celebration of the wide variety of fics I’ve read and/or bookmarked and/or subscribed to. Thank you to every writer on this list for keeping me entertained.

To every fanfic writer I've had the pleasure of reading the words of, and there are so many more of you than just this list of people, I want to thank you so very much of trusting your creativity to us readers. You are my rock, my joy, my comfort, and so many other supporting adjectives that I just want to give you all hugs and money for the holidays.

They sparkled, as they always did. She was studying his face carefully, her arms wrapped around his neck, anticipating a response. She smelled of flowers, of fresh air. She was warm and there and gods, he was so incredibly in love with her. Especially now. “That is the best news I’ve ever heard,” he said softly before kissing her. Keyleth and Vax get their happily ever after, because I said so. So there. Take that, Mercer. Apparently, this is the 1,000 Vaxleth fic on this site, so yay!

“You’re lucky, Zoro,” she had spat, eyes turned up towards the sky, like she was trying to hold in tears. He'd never seen Kuina cry before. He’d never seen any expression on her face other than her teeth gritted in determination or her grinning in victory. “I want to be the greatest swordsman too. But girls grow up, and their bodies become weaker than men's. I’m never going to be the greatest.” Kuina tells him this, and Zoro can barely comprehend the words she’s saying. He thinks of the countless hours he’s spent training by the river bed, the green locks of his hair left on the floor after Koushirou helped him shear it all off, of the people he thought of as family a lifetime ago calling him by a name he despised. Zoro puts a hand to his chest, where he’d hastily wrapped bandages earlier that day, remembering how his body had begun changing and he didn’t understand why- “You’re lucky to have been born a man, Zoro,” Kuina finishes lamely. Zoro sees red.

Sharing heats and ruts is nothing but convenience for Zoro and Sanji. Two times a year they fuck like animals and then go their separate ways. Even if separate ways is just down the hall. It works for them. That's what they tell themselves anyway. Then a poorly timed heat makes a mess of everything.

I end 2025 having experienced incredible lows and upcoming amazing highs. I finished my Masters degree, I start teaching high schoolers English next year(!!) and finally feel like life is on track. These stories? Each of these stories, and the ones that haven't been mentioned, have kept me going.

For a 5 sentence fic prompt: "Cody, No."

“Cody, no.”

Cody keeps walking, slowly but purposefully. Waxer twists to stare pleadingly at Fox instead.

When Cody had said, just after the General signed off to make Waxer’s promotion official, Next time we’re on Coruscant, we’re getting you shitfaced, Waxer had thought that meant 79′s. Or rotgut in the Corrie bunks.

Not some lowest-levels bar, haphazardly set up in what might’ve once been a warehouse, run by natborns, patrons also all natborns and almost all visibly armed. Waxer’s pretty sure the only reason Fox should be in this place is to shut it down.

He should’ve expected this, though. That’s probably the entire appeal.

And now some guy’s said something, just loud enough to carry over the ambient noise, and Waxer didn’t hear what it was but going by the look that washed over Cody’s face it was nothing good.

“Listen, kid,” Fox says, as Cody shoves his way to the guy’s table and says something quietly, “That’s not how you Cody-wrangle.”

Waxer blinks at him incredulously. Someone else at the table has pulled a knife.

“Telling Cody not to do something,” Fox continues, like he’s offering advice on weapons maintenance, “means he will do it. No matter what it is. What you do instead is distract him -- you know why we’re not at 79s?”

Waxer’s never spent any time with Fox before, so he’s not earned the right to say ‘Cause the two of you are insane even by vod’e standards. But almost every minute since his impromptu field promotion has demonstrated very effectively that officers are a level of utter karking batshit Waxer didn’t think a person could be and still be functional.

Cody’s about to pick a fight with some natborn civvie who’s likely wanted for murder at least, and that’s not even the worst thing Waxer’s seen him do this week.

“‘Cause you’re two of the highest ranking officers in the whole GAR?” He asks, carefully.

Cody grabs the guy by the front of their shirt, pulls them up out their seat, and shoves them up against the wall. He’s holding the other guy’s knife, now, to the first guy’s neck.

“‘Cause no one’ll pick a fight with a commander,” Fox agrees.

A third guy, the biggest of the group, swings a punch at Cody’s head.

Everything gets hard to follow, after that.

When the dust settles, Cody’s stood over a lot of unconscious people and a couple corpses. He’s up to three knives, and he looks incredibly pleased with himself.

He walks back over to their table, drops the knives in front of Fox, steals the last of Fox’s drink, and says, “Cody, yes.”

The General’s foundling is a menace.

Wolffe has been informed by multiple parties across multiple instances that Ahsoka is in fact not the General’s foundling because the Jedi don’t lay claims like rabid Mandos catching the scent of an orphan and barking over their preferred adoptees. However, seeing as how Ahsoka is somehow always around to be doted upon, Wolffe has firmly categorized her as “the General’s foundling” and he will not be moved.

#50. Putting a hand over the other's mouth to shut them up.

Is this an au? Are they all on shore leave? Who can say.

Are they just guys being dudes? What's better than this? Absolutely.

Cody doesn't know what's in the shots that Skywalker ordered, only that they're sweet. Saccharine with something artificial and fruity, a flavor he can't name. They're not even good, burning the back of his throat in a way that guarantees a hangover tomorrow.

But that's a problem for Cody tomorrow.

Cody tonight has no problems.

Or, at least he had no problems.

But then Rex stands up too fast, bumps the table, and sends an entire pitcher of beer toppling over into Skywalker's lap.

The problem then becomes oh no not the BEER.

A tragedy.

A tremendous loss.

Though perhaps a worthwhile loss, because Skywalker goes purple.

Cody's three sheets to the wind. Is it three? Or four? Five? It can't be five. That's too many. Either way he is several sheets to the wind, and Skywalker's expression is enough to render Cody useless.

He's laughing so hard it hurts. He's fucking crying. He's far far too drunk to be subjecting his stomach to this, but every time he tries to get himself together, he catches another look of Skywalker's face, and the giggles start all over again.

Skywalker, who's beginning to look extremely prissy and upset. Rex, who's trying to apologize through his own howls of laughter. Obi-Wan, who's fighting back laughter fiercely enough that his pink cheeks clash with his beard.

"This isn't funny!" Skywalker's voice cracks when he says it, as he fumbles for a handful of napkins and starts patting furiously at his crotch.

Cody can't. He can't. He's slumped in the booth, half under the table. Rex is laughing so hard he's started coughing.

"Shush!" Obi-Wan says insistently, fluttering his hand in Cody's direction, "You're making it -" He wheezes, " - worse!"

Cody tries to sit up, sees Skywalker's murderous little baby face, and dissolves right back into loud giggles.

"Cody!" Obi-Wan's laughing too now, "Stop!"

Cody shakes his head, and Obi-Wan responds by slapping his hand over Cody's mouth.

And Cody.

Cody is very drunk.

It's second nature for him to stick his tongue out and lick.

Obi-Wan shrieks, and Rex falls over.

Ahsoka returns from the bathroom and stares at them, the sorry overturned pitcher of beer on the table, and Skywalker with a sodden handful of napkins.

"I'm switching you all to water."
