"Scavenger Hunt"

--TRUD!C00lk1dd x Reader Blurb

"Found something. Come take a look."

C00lk1dd turns toward your direction, quick to abandon his search. He makes his way over to you, feet narrowly avoiding the shards of broken glass and scattered products on the floor, and glances at the trinket laid in your hands.

You toss it over to him. He catches it without so much as a flinch, securing it in his grasp. The strain on his face loosens just a fraction when he has the chance to see it up-close.

"...Thank you." Both his eyes and his blackened fingers follow the pattern etched on the brass pin.

"You like it? I won't get upset if you don't, only if you make me guess." You gauge his reaction with squinted eyes and furrowed brows.

His lack of a verbal reply pulls a disappointed sigh from you. As you close the distance to retrieve the object, you feel something brush against the top of your head. The light weight lingers, before it disappears just as quickly. C00lk1dd pulls away.

Fastening the pin amid the folds of his scarf, your lover ensures it's held tightly in place before letting go.

"Where did you find these?" He murmurs, his voice muffled by the article of clothing wrapped around his neck. You roll your eyes, helpless to the playful grin forming on your face. Your warm hand clasps around his frigid one.

"I know where to find more."

He doesn't struggle against your touch.

"CH11D1SH PUrSU- SU-sUIT5." 1x1x1x1 eyes the constellation of pins strewn across C00lk1dd's scarf.

You click your tongue. "And what did you do all day?"

"H0N3 MY sk1lls. Y0U D0N'7 D0 1T 3N0U6H. N0 W0ND3r -w0nd3r WHY Y0U L0S3 3V3rY r0und Y0U P4r74K3 1N."

"Oh, shut up."

The friction between the steel of C00lk1dd's knife and whetstone produces a raspy scraping. It drowns out the sound of you two arguing. His gaze flicked up every now and then, ensuring you both hadn't yet ripped eachother to shreds, before returning to his bladework.

headcanon: roblox glitches like wallhopping and dance clipping still exist in trud, but they aren't widely popularized because they're hard to learn and even harder to put into practice. bacon and acorn have mastered most of these glitches because they're obby enthusiasts

when the xploit started, the siblings would use these glitches on supply runs or to escape the xploit

the other survivors thought they were being stupid at first (especially considering bacon's personality) until they saw it in action and realized it actually worked lmfao

headcanon: robloxian culture is based on the honor and victory of war

(PSST THIS WAS INSPIRED BY SILVER2K2'S HC THAT ROBLOXIAN CULTURE IS CENTERED AROUND FIGHTING)

- most (and by the time overhaul drops, all) trud characters have weapons. even jane, their healer, is getting her teamboost replaced with a red hyperlaser. heck, bloxxer is based on the old roblox achievement earned through a high kill tally, and brickbattler is based off of brickbattling (team fighting) games

- thereby id like to think that robloxia is very competitive when it comes to fighting and the like. by extension; values like honor and courage are exemplified, while cowardice and unwillingness to fight are frowned upon

WHAT THIS IMPLIES FOR THE CHARACTERS

- ive still retained my portrayal of past!c00lk1dd as someone who is averse to unnecessary conflict but has a strong moral compass (more on that in my char analysis)

- this is why hes an outcast compared to the rest of the robloxian community. they don't like him all that much for his passive hobbies (gardening) and his overall personality. yes, his strong sense of justice is something they'd respect, but most robloxians aren't willing to get to know c00lk1dd well enough to learn that side of him

(skip this segment if u dont like xreaders)

- and its what makes his dynamics with you work

- reader doesn't care about what other people think of them because they're used to dealing with toxic opponents in their hobby as a "capture the flag" enthusiast

- this repeated thrill of battling, while interesting, can get overwhelming fast. its why you look for peace, tranquility

- and you find those traits in c00lk1dd

- now, as you can imagine, exclusion from one's community can make them very lonely. c00lk1dd can try to bury those feelings under the solace of gardening, but he'll eventually need a companion. roblox is a platform built by people and is for people. therefore, it is in robloxian nature to thrive on connections

- that's where you come in. to fill in the loneliness in c00lk1dd's life

- it's why, even as reader yaps a lot, c00lk1dd enjoys and needs their words. he needs the reassurance that he is still wanted, valued, and loved

- he realizes that he is fine the way he is, and that he doesn't owe it to anyone to change, because at least one person loves him

- without the reader's intervention, he wouldve succumbed to the xploit sooner (i mean in the end he still becomes an exploiter but i dont wanna spoil details of how my c00lk1dd rendition becams that way so 🤭🤭)

- the situation's different for jane doe. people hold her with high regard for being an admin's daughter, so she tries to live up to those expectations

- truth is, she hates fighting. she hates conflict. she doesn't see the point, and she subconsciously detests the notion that the "weak" are only those who don't want to participate in battle

- jane has a sort of motherly side to her. she would much rather support others from the sidelines than get involved in the center

- her fighting skills are a bit less than average. nobody has the courage to point it out, and she tries covering them up through training

- it gets tiring trying to be someone that you're not, and jane always goes home exhausted

- her source of respite is her family: her father, builderman; and her brother, john doe

- although she also hides her aversion for fighting from them as well, they're the ones she lets her guard down around the most

Guest 666 is no coward.

Cowards flee from the charging bull Fate. Yet she grabs it by the horns. She carves a chalice off its pain and drinks the poison borne of its spite. It falls from her lips, runs down cold bone, and glues burgundy onto her blackened fingers.

Guest 666 is no coward.

Cowards pride themselves in stolen power. But the anomaly earns and works for, time and time again, what should have been and what is now hers. Power is an infinite resource, innate and vulnerable, but it does not give itself to others.

Guest 666 is no coward.

Cowards quiver before the symbol of death. Yet here the symbol lies, submissive and nimble, handle bridled between her fingers. Its end waited for her signal to harvest the weed shivering in a windless plain. In its eyes masquerade a falsehood of repentance, a last ditch effort to extract pity.

But only cowards have pity.

And Guest 666 is no coward.

headcanons: 2x2 is 1x1x1x1's foil (a.k.a their direct contrast in writespeak)

2x2 was created to multiply and grow. if 1x1x1x1 is the virus, 2x2 is the program

2x2 uses all pronouns

if 1x1x1x1 is a being beyond all comprehension, then 2x2 is so "normal" that you wouldn't be able to distinguish them from a regular robloxian had you not known her identity. after all, everything and everyone originated from the alpha brick. it's why shedletsky, 2x2's first creation, is so down-to-earth

in addition, 2x2 is capable of feeling every emotion. they understand all robloxian woes and sorrows. he cares for his children, but he knows its not in his place to intervene

2x2, having predated all life, is aware that creation cannot exist without destruction. its why robloxian culture revolves around risk-taking and fighting. unlike 1x1x1x1, he is willing to accept all possibilities. it doesn't mean, however, that creation or destruction should prevail over the other. balance should be observed, otherwise the laws of the universe will tip in favor of one and shatter. it benefits neither of them in the end

2x2 would not let the xploit happen. however, they are so closely tethered to the world, having composed it, that they are helpless to anything that comes beyond it
