Divination or Prophecy, you decide...

When we talk about divination (from Latin divinare, 'to foresee, to foretell, to predict, to prophesy', related to divinus, 'divine'), or "to be inspired by a god," is the attempt to gain insight into a question or situation by way of an occultic, standardized process or ritual.), we are talking about familiar spirits and I found most times these operate through influence. Prophets can as we have seen be influenced by opposing spirits, they can be influenced by the popular narrative and can be influenced by an agenda, all these things are motivated by an evil spirit of divination, the spirit of Python (The python spirit is the spirit of lies, deception and spiritual oppression of heaviness. It is also the spirit that empower people to practice divination, fortune telling, and visions that are not of God.), a fortune-teller (See Acts 16:16-18).

A prophecy on the other hand is a message that is claimed by a prophet to have been communicated to them by God and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Such messages typically involve inspiration, interpretation, or revelation of the divine will concerning the prophet's social world and events to come. 

Having said this, I believe we are currently seeing a deceiving spirit loosed on the minds of many and has infiltrated and influenced the church en masse. And in Matt 24:24 Jesus speaking, “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.”

I heard it said, “Just because it sounds good, does not mean it is.” Since we find ourselves in unchartered territory, it is absolutely imperative and more so now than ever before, we ensure we constantly remain in the divine realm of God’s Kingdom (Acts 14:22) so that when we are faced with opposition from an opposing source, we find ourselves seated in a position of authority, able to discern and test the spirit 1 John 4:1  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Friends, I guess what I am trying to say, in the end, it is up to each one of us to ensure Eph 4:14-16 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. 

And as a final reminder, it is out of our relationship with our heavenly Father that we know the truth and will find that it is this truth that will set us free. You are no longer a slave, but a child of the Living God who is now able to discern by the Spirit, what is truly of God and what is not.
