Mod - Make Multifunctional Lots Project (pt.2): Auto-Spawn Bartenders [Testers Wanted]

This mod injects the Bartender NPC situation directly into the zone directors for various lots, so you can place a bar object on nearly any (non-residential/rental) lot type and a bartender will automatically spawn.

This is part 2 in a series of mods to make NPCs spawn automatically on commercial lots, and make them more multi-functional. Part 1 is here.

Things I could use feedback on:

Interaction with Parties and Events - So, right now, if you hire a bartender in an event planning menu, you’ll end up with two (one from the event, and the one auto-spawned). I figure you can just not hire one, but if you test and run into weird experience-breaking problems, let me know.

Mod - Mine in Beach Cave

This mod enables your sims to “Mine for Metals” or “Mine for Gems” in Sulani’s Beach Cave. You have to explore the cave a little bit before the options become available:

The idea here is that you need to prospect first to figure out where the precious metals and gems are located. So, metal mining becomes available at “partial” mapping of the cave, and gem mining becoming available at “nearly complete” mapping of the cave. You may have to “explore” many times before successfully prospecting all of the cave’s treasures.

Mining is hard, dirty work, so your sims will lose hygiene and energy need pretty quickly. And even if you bring a few waterfall in a bottles and some energy drinks to help with those needs, the work is physically intensive... and after a while will result in fatigue, and lock you out of the interaction for the duration of the buff. On the plus side, your sims will gain Fitness skill while mining (and gain a little muscle, and lose a little fat).

You’re most likely to get common metals or gems, and rarer ones are less likely and fewer in number. You can also get unlucky and not successfully mine anything at all. Once your sim returns from the depths, you’ll be prompted to check their inventory for any treasures.

There is also some support for lifestyles from Snowy Escape, although it is not necessary to use the mod. Miners will gain lifestyle points towards the energetic lifestyle and the adrenaline seeker one.

Mod: Tend Espresso Bar for Wages

Working as of: Dec 22, 2021

Pretty self explanatory. I wanted my college sims to have more options for making money, so I added a new interaction “Tend Espresso Bar for Wages” to the espresso machine. I basically just cloned the "Tend" interaction from the espresso bar and added a periodic payment loot. Teens and up can pick up extra shifts at the local coffee shop, and they will earn more when they are working overtime for the Barista career.

The pay rate depends on whether your sim is in the Barista career or not, and their level. It follows the hourly pay for the Barista career pretty closely, as you’ll see:

Not in Barista Career: $14 an hour

Barista Level 1: $28 an hour

Barista Level 2: $40 an hour

Barista Level 3: $62 an hour

Your sim will be paid once every 30 sim minutes they work the machine, so divide the hourly pay by 2 and that's what they'll get in a single payment.

In Windenburg, they'll wear the bartender uniform like the other baristas in that world (see above). In other worlds they'll wear the standard barista uniform:

It’s worth noting that unless you work on a Café or Art Center lot, it’s unlikely that NPC sims will autonomously purchase coffees or food (making your shift pretty boring - but you’ll still be paid for your time). This problem is worse when you have Seasons, since sims seem to place higher priority on autonomously purchasing food/drink from the seasonal stalls. But in my testing I did notice that if you... give NPC sims no other options for fulfilling their thirst or hunger (by, say, deleting the doors to your library, for instance), they’ll pretty reliably order food. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, I recommend placing two espresso bars on any lot where you’ll use this mod. If there’s only one, you may be blocked from working by the NPC barista or the two sims might ‘compete’ with each other, resulting in dropped interactions and pathing confusion. When you place the bars, place them sort of close together; sometimes your baristas will use different parts of the same espresso bar at the same time (one on the grinder, the other grabbing pastries, for instance), and it’s easiest if they don’t have to spend a whole lot of time pathing between bars. That said, the pathing can still be a little wonky on occasion, especially if sims congregate behind the counter/block access to one of the espresso bars. I blame Maxis. But hey, I think it works well enough. If you run into other issues, let me know.
