I wanna post here a little more often so I can yap without thinking about Twitter character limits and have my drawings be more accessible without worrying about cleaning up my art for a more aesthetic Insta/Artstation feed or whatever. Anyway I comm’ed a cute little cat-ified version of my Primordian Rakan from @noritaro and I love it so much oh my god Xayah has a plushie of it and cuddles it at night CANON

yeah shiyi stabbed him but he doesn't care he literally doesn't caaaare about the stabbing what's a little stabbing between marital partners. what is devastating and heartbreaking and causes him to put emotional barriers between them is that she didn't trust him, she didn't understand him. believing evidence that pointed to him as her mother's killer is completely unfair to him, both because it ignores the generosity and integrity with which he has always treated her personally and because it says something about his character which would make him a really shitty guy if true. like by doing this she basically was saying "i think you're a callous and dishonest person" and my god but that hurts him! especially coming from her, the person whose opinion he respects more than all others. he thinks she's so competent and so kind and so good and she thinks he kills innocent people out of convenience. like. ouch??

but she doesn't understand this, she just keeps apologizing for the stabbing. girl he dgaf about the stabbing, move on from the freaking stabbing!!!! it makes so much sense that her every attempt to apologize for the stabbing just pushes him farther away, because from his perspective it's just more evidence that she doesn't understand him, because she doesn't even understand why that's not what he wants to hear. they only reconcile when 1) she apologizes without mentioning the stabbing and 2) she indicates that she isn't just doing this because she feels guilty, it's because she wants to be close to him. that's what he wanted: to know that she wants emotional intimacy. that means she trusts him and thinks well of him. THAT'S all he cares about. stabbing whomst.

This grandpa dwarf merchant shows up in my story for only this once scene but low-key he's brought about my favourite scene I've written so far, I feel like I owe him a brief cameo later in the story at least

i was so invested in dongqing/fu linbo by the end and so mad they never showed them together after he asked for her hand in marriage and left to fight pirates. i was at first so sure he was definitely gonna die and we were gonna have to watch dongqing deal with that, but then they didn't show their day off together, and if he was gonna die they probably would have shown that first to really twist the knife. so i thought we were safe. but THEN xu lingyi had to leave him behind fighting all those assassins, and the assassins escaped and we never saw what happened to him, so i was like maybe death is back on the table. but by then so many bad things were happening to the other characters i was like these people got enough going on, he's probably fine. then the other characters' bad stuff was resolved with like half an episode to go and i thought okay now is the time we'll find out he died because they're going to have to temper all that relief with something. it was a real 3-episode rollercoaster and was occupying a lot of my mental real estate. and after all that they didn't even show him ever again and we just got a throwaway line about him and dongqing living far away?? what the hell…

i loooooove her smoothing out the furrow in his brow. not really at all the same thing as xiao lanhua pushing up the corners of dongfeng qingcang's mouth (one is about trying to change his emotions, the other is about trying to change his portrayal of his emotions), but for some reason they are falling into the same category of woman manipulates her man's facial muscles to make him less grouchy that i am apparently all about now. AND i love that here she only does it when he's asleep. because it's not about the face he puts on to the world, it's about his own comfort. and she doesn't even need him to know that she's doing it.
