A new batch of Britt Allcroft Auction HQ photos from (@/Thomas_1fan) on Twitter has many great finds, but the ones that stood out to me are some BTS photos from the learning segment ‘Which Engine for Which Job?’— THE LADS!!!!!! THE TOGETHERNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not all Vehicles can become humanoid.
Why?
It's because of gold dust, they need a certain amount to take the form of a humanoid and 40% of the Sodor vehicles cannot do this. It's due to some of them not having enough gold dust inside of them to transform.
0% Gold dust: The vehicle is not sentient at all, no face, just a regular vehicle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
5-20% gold dust: The vehicle is sentient and alive, however the face IS the smokebox door and only have eyes and a mouth that doesn't lead anywhere. They also can't move by themselves.
30-50% gold dust: The vehicle has an actual face and can move by itself, however, they need a lot of training to start moving themselves, around 10-15 years of practising, also they're faces are smaller and doesn't cover the whole smokebox.
55-75% gold dust: The vehicle now has pretty much full control over it's body, being able to move around without a driver, ofc they still need practise, but only for around 3 years. They're faces also cover the whole smokebox/front of the vehicle and can transform into a humanoid at will (However it's only for limited time before they have to transform back "10 hours max")
80-100% gold dust: Only a few have 100% like James, Thomas and some of P.L.E.F, they gain abilities like electricity, fire, psychic, etc. And they are way physically stronger than the average engine.
Infinite gold dust: Only the Gods can handle this much gold dust, being the ones who made the stuff lol. Obviously going to Edward and Lady (Also Proteus but he's a bitch lol)
Bonus!
Black gold dust: this type of gold dust is unstable and very dangerous, it can contaminate normal Gold dust or vice versa. Beings with this power are around god level, however, they can be defeated with just enough gold dust if not careful. They tend to take a form of another engine to trick others, showing how corrupt they are
