Firefly Lane
Firefly Lane : Friendship is so much more than just a word.
Recently, I finished watching all of the Firefly Lane Netflix show last night. A great show. There are some flaws, though. My main complaint is that there was a big out of character moment.
In Season 2 Episode 1, Tully's grandmother's slapped her, and she was being pretty nasty to Tully before and after the slap. And in later episodes, Tully was terrified of going back to her grandmother. I don't understand. In the first season's first episode, the grandmother seemed loving and kind towards Tully, and in the flashback in another episode of that season, she wanted Cloud's father to not abuse her during the flashback where young Cloud was leaving their home to run away with her boyfriend, Tully's father.
It's so weird. The show made Tully's grandmother abusive in season 2, but she didn't seem that bad in season 1. Plus, I hated how Tully's grandmother ended up being abusive. Before I started season 2, I liked how Tully had a family member who wasn't a jerk to her, and seemed to be loving to her and concerned for her safety. Though I was wondering why Tully's grandmother was fine with letting teen Tully live with her mother again after she accidentally abandoned her at the protest years before that.
Anyway, I really liked watching Firefly Lane. But I hate what it did with Tully's grandmother. I wanted to see them have a sweet, loving bond with each other in season 2, and I didn't get my wish. Plus, making Tully's grandmother abusive in S2 contradicted her personality that was shown in S1. Also, at the beginning of S2, it seemed like the grandmother was going to be sweet and nice, because she was shown teaching Tully embroidery, and the two of them seemed to be on good terms.
Time After Time and Dancing Queen will never be the same for me after watching this. Firefly Lane girls forever! 🤧❤️🩹
Firefly Lane girls forever.
I swear in the name of all the best fanfiction on ao3, I've never cried for a piece of fiction as much as did with the finale of firefly lane.
