I added another 10,000 words to my already 50,000 word nanowrimo project during the editing process the past few days. Feeling pretty proud of myself. Took a drawing break. I'm getting there! and Hazel got to punch a ghost, so I'm really proud of her too. my little gremlin is growing up <3
Tussie-Mussie is edited but like its being overviewed by my friends and family now hopefully its done after that im not made for editing im made for spewing countless words onto a page then sobbing tearfully and handing it to someone else and begging them to help me make what i wrote actually english

Im so torn
On one hand i love the idea of Lilac and Rosswell having a little cat they raised together, on the other, i feel like it'd perhaps just be because i like cats that I added it in and not because it really belonged. i guess I could add it as a 'side story' where its cannon but not really shown in the main book. where's the cat during the book? irrelevant but it definitely totaly exists. yeah maybe ill do that~ its a sad thing but then again then I could dedicate an entire side story to just them having a cat together and what goes on with the little creature and how they got it and the like. that's what side stories are for! exploring the things that you didn't get to explore in the main book but still want to enjoy! yes...side story kitten. if anyone has complaints, hear me out , writing is hard and this way you don't have to be mad i shoehorned in a cat without it making sense, but also, you get to see a kitten! its a win win. we all win! if you don't like it, please be nice, i will cry. ill cry and cry and cry and it'll be so sad and pitiful, you don't want me to be sad and pitiful right? you don't wanna be mean to a poor little author just because she wanted her little guys to have a cat would you? surely not- you agree right? who's gonna complain about a little bonus cat content? They say to kill your darlings but why should I do that when I could write BONUS cat. I should really be editing right now, not writing fanfiction of my own book- but in my defense cats.

welp, I guess I haven't really written a book until someone's said something unspeakable about one of the characters. Thank you again Pepii for providing this service. Poor dear, innocent, victorian era Rosswell, you'd probably die if you heard what was said. Rip. At least I'll be well prepared for if this thing gets a fandom. Whatever a fandom could come up with, it can't be that much worse than half the things this absolute criminal has said about Rosswell today.

And of course, Professor Lilac Harebell, a teacher on tenure and a ghost hunter on a mission. Yeah i know, i put a lot more effor tinto making the first one pretty and clean and neat. the one on the right was after all, the first real concept art of her. the one of her in her youth was made to help hype myself up.
It wasn't intentional...but I can't help but view her almost as the personofication of a stick of dynamite that's just exploded? from a simple clean cylinder with a fuse to a big eruption of color and noise, you know?
Editing battle strategy
go through and read it, making very small minor edits here and there if i see any blatant mistakes i expect to miss. run it through grammarly with a lot of handholding so it dosent mussy up my hard work.
Force my beta reader to read this thing. force my friends who love me dearly to read this thing. if they can force me to read scp articles and one piece fanfiction they can read my book. this is fair and they have agreed to this fate.
Print the thing out and get out my highlighters, make myself a notebook and start writing down words i want to look up the victorian slang for. and things i intend to research further as well as any notes from my betas. take careful notes of where certain plot things are mentioned foreshadowed or things like that, so i don't forget and get mixed up or fail to foreshadow properly.
check with my friends on my notes before I begin, then go through with any changes i decide i need.
repeat step 1 again, and if all seems well, take a month long break if i can force myself to.
return and see if it holds up. show my results to my friends. see if it worked as i hoped. see if we, with clear eyes, like the newest version. if sucessful and all is well, begin publishing. if all is unwell, weep bitterly, keep going. be b r a v e about it even though i am very, very unbrave right now.
