This is an amazing write up and hilarious review of a special edition tea from one of the most pretentious tea companies.

So for context:

- Stamford Raffles is called the founder of modern Singapore (aka the reason why SG was a British colony as opposed to not a colony or not Dutch. I mean his title is also something ppl argue about and you can stan William Farquhar aka Justin Trudeau's ancestor instead if you're actually invested, but you don't need to know or care for this article).

- TWG is a Singaporean tea company that pretends it's some british colonial era tea company founded in 1837 but actually it was founded in 2007 by an Indian-Singaporean-Hong Konger dude.

- Tai tais are the local name for rich housewives whose day's are spent shopping in the most expensive malls.

All that said...enjoy this review. Its the best thing I've read all year.

This year, I haven't done anything superb enough to give myself a treat, but I bought myself fancy tea as a kind of reward just for living even in depressed condition. The tea named TWG Tea is a Singaporean brand and rather pricy than others like Fortnum and Mason. That's why I had been pondering if I should buy or not for ages. I'm satisfied to dare to make a purchase of it, which allowed me to know something that I never knew.

I opted for "1837 Black Tea", Ceylon black tea with strawberries and caramel flavoring, because it's been a top-selling product at TWG tea in Japan. I took to its sourness and the way that a sweet flavor from strawberries was slowly accumulated in my mouth as I drunk. Besides, there was a hint of caramel taste in the background, and it was like tea with milk to me. That reminded me of "Paris" from Harney and Sons, a tea brand in New York.

Last but not least, what I got most excited about was actually its way of filling tea leaves in handsewn cotton tea bags, which appeared absolutely distinct from others and made me brace myself up immediately. To be honest, I couldn't find any differences in taste from the typical way but I appreciated such a hard work.

In the last few weeks, it has been freezing here in Japan; hot beverage is suitable for this season, indeed. On the other hand, it is about 250 yen per cup. Compared to a cup of coffee at a cafe, it isn't too expensive, yet I will consume the rest of it really preciously.
