I'm gonna save copies of this post in case Tumblr decides to eat it, but here is a basic rundown of my new oc Tykee
Orientation: unknown, too focused on not forming attachments.
Tykee's name comes from the Greek goddess of luck, Tyche, pronounced the same way. Tykee is a black Tatzelwyrm Monster with bird wings. A Tatzelwyrm is essentially a naga but with a cat top half instead of a human half. Tykee's belly is white, and the rest of their scales are iridescent black. Their wings are based off of playing cards, with white primaries and secondaries with spots on the feathers shaped like suits. The coverts are a mix of red, black, and white. The backs of all of their feathers are black, creating decent camouflage in the dark.
Tykee lives in a dry cave between Hotland and Waterfall, and is a bit of a hermit. Their weapon of choice is a set of throwing knives, however they prefer to either use their claws or magic.
Their powers are luck-based. They can choose the outcome of an event, however they experience extreme backlash anytime they change an event (so if they tried to make sure someone lived an attack, and they would have lived anyway, no backlash occurs). The backlash comes in the form of hallucinations. This can be any sense, but is usually seeing, hearing, or feeling. The hallucinations are based on whatever the outcome would have been (so if they save someone from a deadly injury, they may hear the mourning of their family, or see the person still gravely injured)
The backlash changes in severity based on how big the change was. So making sure a kid wins a carnival prize won't have much backlash, but saving lives might. This impacts how long the hallucinations lasts for as well as how many senses it involves. An extreme change can involve every sense and essentially trap them in that world for hours or even days
Their parents used them for their powers, even with the backlash it caused. Because of this, they have developed extreme anxiety and refuse to believe that anyone can love them out of the fear of getting used again. This also means they don't reach out to help people often outside of superficial acts, even though they have a relatively strong moral compass. Their alignment, because of this, is chaotic neutral.
Their mental state is very bad due to the hallucinations and the lack of any sort of friendship. This shows itself in violent outbursts and a tendency to hide from literally any kind of conflict.
They're very spiteful and distrustful to the point of self-harm through refusing to ask for help, and they tend to get their way through tricks rather than arguing.
Their main character arc will be them learning that some people can be trusted, though I think their distrust of most people will stay consistent.
If they had been raised in a good family they likely would have been neutral good or chaotic good, and been much more outgoing. They have a kind heart but the anxiety makes it very difficult to act on it.
