Equipment set-up
Organise people and resources.
I was Invited to do the workshop by YWMP who are holding the event. To celebrate International women's day they are holding a day of music, workshops, films, food. Through performances, workshops and talks, the event will provide a forum for people of all genders and ages to come together to create, learn and discuss the gender based issues that affect our day-to-day lives, while taking the opportunity to build connections and celebrate achievements.
During my time slot in the event there was another workshop in designing posters, running at the same time as my workshop will be.
My main priority is to be open and communicative to share what is needed to conduct the workshop.
The equipment will be provided by YWMP. Including the laptops which have Ableton installed.

With that I am responsible for the items and need to make sure nothing is taken. I plan to not leave the station and my practice of helping people with making music will make sure I am also conscious of the equipment. For health and safety, The project has created a risk assessment for the event and I have read and I have been introduced to the venue's member of staff who would be a point of contact in emergency situations. And had shared my plan for the workshop and was helped to find a place to best do the session that was conscious of safety and risk assessment.

In the risk assessment the sections that apply to my workshop are in lone working, as there is a risk as I would be interacting mostly at the station that there is a medium risk of me having an accident or being in an incident with an attendee. The way I plan to minimise that is by making sure that the station doesn’t have any trip hazards that could lead to an accident and I will ask for a member of staff to help me set up and put the devices away. I will also make sure that I know who I can ask for assistance in the venue if there is any issue with an attendee.
The second risk that applies to my workshop is the use of electronic equipment. I will need access to an outlet and to make sure that the outlet itself is not in a place where people may accidentally spill liquid or touch and interfere with the connection of the plug. I will do so by having my station where the power outlet is out of the way of people and organise the wires so they aren’t in anyone's way.
The third risk that applies to my workshop is a Slip and trip hazard. And this is in regards to my station and how I will need to handle the cables and wires of the workshop. I will make sure that the wires are not in anybody's way and also, as the station is a large desk I will make sure to feed the wires behind the desk away from the attendees.
And the third Risk that applies to my workshop is transmission of COVID 19. This is because a number of people will be in contact with equipment through touching the laptops , the midi, keyboard and guitar to using a microphone. I will make sure to have sanitiser on my station and will disinfect the equipment before use and with the microphone I will use a pop shield and have a foam cover which can be disinfected.
I also read the venue's covid policy to better understand the venues actions that they take.
In the thought of safety and providing that to attendees, I will offer to send their songs to them via email if they would like. If the participants did not consent I will offer a method they are more comfortable in receiving the song, if the participant is underage I will not ask for their personal information. And ask their parents or guardians for information instead.
I will check in with them when they are finished making a song and discuss how they found the experience.
