Sanzter struggled. He was fighting Papyrus and Undyne and was losing the battle. Toriel had been attacked by the two and Sanzter had stepped in.
10/20 HP
He had already used an excessive amount of magic and was losing his strength from their double teaming.
“LET’S FINISH THIS, PAPYRUS. BUT DO NOT KILL HIM.”
Undyne told Papyrus who nodded and the two attacked. Sanzter saw Undyne’s attack coming at him first, so he dodged it only to have Papyrus teleport above him and slam him down to the floor with his two orange bones. Sanzter hit the floor with a loud “THUD”, he coughed up blood, dazed.
5/20 HP
Sanzter couldn’t move, his body grew heavy as if weighing like stones. Papyrus loomed over him, his orange pupils glowing brightly as did his eye markings. He then lifted an orange bone. He struck Sanzter straight through his chest.
0.5/20 HP
Papyrus made sure to remove the bone when his HP dropped too low, but that was their biggest mistake. Suddenly, a burst of power came from Sanzter, causing Papyrus to be forced back. He rejoined Undyne’s side and waited for the smoke to clear. When the smoke started to clear, they could make out Sanzter, his eye markings glowed brightly and his pupils had disappeared from his sockets.
“WHAT?!”
Undyne growled, grinding her teeth as she scowled.
Sanzter grinned and seemed to glare at Undyne and Papyrus. Undyne could sense his aura and saw darkness overwhelming him. Undyne felt sweat form upon her face as she prepared for battle, drawing her blue spear. Sanzter then attacked, teleporting in front of Undyne who flinched in surprise, he proceeded to attack her with his bone attacks. Undyne was sent reeling and skidded to a halt a few feet away while the skeleton aimed next for his brother. Sanzter teleported to Papyrus who managed to dodge his attacks, Papyrus teleported to Undyne’s side. Sanzter kept his grin and dark stare of nothingness within his empty sockets. The battle progressed until Undyne and Papyrus were starting to lose the battle due to Sanzter’s continuous intensity driven from his anger.
“PAPYRUS! WE NEED TO FALL BACK FOR NOW, LET’S GO.”
Undyne ordered, Papyrus and Sanzter were face to face, blue and orange collided with each other from their bones that were crossed over one another. Papyrus then teleported back to Undyne before teleporting once more.
ESCAPED
Sanzter just stood there, unmoving. Toriel, who was nearby and watching, stepped out from her hiding place and ran up to Sanzter, smiling, thinking everything was fine.
“Sanzter! I’m so glad! I thought—!”
Toriel stopped before she reached Sanzter, seeing him turn his head slightly back to look at Toriel. She froze, her eyes wide and paralyzed with fear, she saw his darkness, and she wish she hadn’t.
“S-Sanzter?”
Toriel reached a hand out to the skeleton, but he simply turned around and just that, made Toriel flinch and take a shaky step back. Sanzter’s empty sockets stared at Toriel. They were empty, yet full, full of darkness. Sanzter suddenly teleported away, not saying a word as he left. Toriel let out a breath, it was as if she had been frozen in time, she hadn’t realized that she wasn’t breathing or moving at all when the two locked gazes. Toriel seemed to calm down a bit as she put one hand to her chest and closed her eyes, but the sound of fearful cries came from her left, making her whip around. Toriel’s eyes widened in fear. The cries were coming from Snowdin Town.
Sanzter launched his attacks at the innocent monsters of Snowdin, firing his Gaster Blasters and launching his bone attacks. He still had his blank stare and smile across his face.
Toriel rushed into Snowdin Town to see Sanzter attacking. She cried out to him. Nothing. Then, she took a step forward to run to him, but after her first step, her body froze. Toriel couldn’t move anymore forward as if her body refused to go any nearer to Sanzter. She didn’t know why this was happening though it was clear as day to anyone else. She feared Sanzter at this point. That was when Sanzter aimed a Gaster Blaster at a young monster who cried out for their parents, crying and whimpering. Toriel could tell this monster was very young, they looked as if they weren’t even able to use magic, or even conjure anything from magic. Sanzter prepared to fire. Toriel’s body moved and so did her mind, they cooperated without her knowing and she sprinted over to the monster. The Gaster Blaster fired a beam of bright light blue, Toriel threw herself in front of the attack, taking the full power of the attack. Smoke clouded the air while Sanzter remained still and silent. Once the smoke cleared, Toriel could be seen lying on the snow, her entire right side was damaged severely, though her HP was still stable. The young monster recognized Toriel and nudged her, whimpering. Toriel, as if hearing the monster who tried to get her up, lifted her upper body up with her shaky arms. Toriel huffed, pain flowed throughout her body and felt her right side burning like she were set on fire (yes, pun intended, lol). Toriel turned to the young monster and smiled warmly.
“Do not worry, young one…. Are you alright?”
Toriel said softly, the young monster then nodded before Toriel smiled more.
“G-good. Now stay h-here, okay, d-dear?”
Toriel then rose to her feet, she trembled from the pain, she turned to face Sanzter, standing protectively in front of the monster. Sanzter chuckled before he summoned some bones and launched them at Toriel, but she surprised him. Toriel countered his bone attacks with her fireballs. Toriel prepared to defend these monsters with her life, but, something else lingered in her thoughts.
“Sanzter, p-please stop this…”
Toriel pleaded, but Sanzter couldn’t hear her and continued attacking the other monsters of Snowdin. Toriel used all of her power to create fireballs and shoot them at Sanzter’s attacks to counter them, causing both attacks to negate and disappear. She did her best to defend the Snowdin monsters as Sanzter continued his attacking, avoiding attacking Toriel oddly. Sanzter suddenly stopped his attacks, them disappearing. Sanzter then gripped his head, crying out in pain as his sharp white teeth parted in his cries. Toriel flinched, she then used her magic to look at his SOUL and saw that it was being corrupted by some black substance. Toriel gasped. She knew that he would be corrupted entirely soon, she had to think of something. Then, one of Sanzter’s cries made her snap, remembering multiple things.
(This song, please listen to it as it fits this story and the theme. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-oKxFcck3c0 Thank ya for reading and enjoy these feelz)
Toriel had flashbacks playing within her mind, she was brought back to multiple scenes. Her son and adopted daughter, Asriel and Chara, dying, the first few humans killed by Undyne, and seeing Sanzter suffer, tormented every single day by his brother and Undyne. All of these flashbacks were horrible moments that happened in her life for what she caused. Pain struck her like a knife. She knew what to do, not just for Sanzter, but for all of the Underground and the future. Toriel let a soft smile come across her face.
Sanzter had stopped his attacking, watching what Toriel was doing as she took a few steps forward and picked up a broken off half of one of Sanzter’s light blue bone attacks. Sanzter narrowed his dark eyes at her. Toriel picked it up and held it. Sanzter then grinned, thinking she was going to use it to battle him, he summoned more bones. Toriel brought the sharp bone piece up, she pointed the tip to Sanzter, tears ran down her face and Sanzter flinched at her next move, his sockets widening.
Toriel rotated the bone so that the sharp point aimed at her now, she then thrust the bone at herself, striking her own chest with his bone attack. Toriel coughed up blood and staggered, blood stained her clothing where she stabbed herself and the bone that stuck out on the other side of her body. Sanzter’s other bone attacks disappeared and he stared at Toriel, something snapped within him. Toriel simply smiled before she spoke with a shaky voice.
“S-Sanzter….. I know t-this is the only w-way t-to get to you….. I-I have caused great s-sorrow to t-the Underground, o-only bringing sadness….”
Toriel spoke. Sanzter listened, frozen.
“I-I do this only to p-protect y-you and the m-monsters of Snowdin….. I’ve been a b-burden to you, causing you to take a-all the p-pain that I cause….. I t-think the b-best way to p-prevent you from hurting others right now and end up b-being c-corrupted, is k-killing m-myself…… I’m s-sorry that I’ve caused so much pain to you….. R-remember our p-promise…..”
Sanzter made his bone attack disappear from within Toriel and rushed to her, his sanity returning as his white pupils were dots in his sockets. He reached out his hand to her but she disappeared, fading to dust within the snow. Sanzter, once before Toriel’s dust, fell to his knees, his tears streamed down his face. Sanzter cried for Toriel, putting his hands to his face as he weeped.
One Year Later…
Sanzter sat by himself in his house. He sat in the living room, sitting on the floor before the coffee table. There was a small cake before him with a single candle on top, it’s flame flickered. Sanzter stared at the flame, remembering the flame of Toriel’s life die out. It was Toriel’s first birthday after her death, Sanzter wanted to celebrated it even though he knew she was gone and would never come back. Tears ran down his face, he stared at the flickering flame.
*i’m sorry, tori……
Sanzter whispered softly, shutting his eyes as he cried. Then, a soft presence seemed to calm Sanzter, he recognized it and opened his eyes to see Toriel’s spirit sitting in front of her on the other side of the coffee table. She smiled to him, reached over and wiped his tears away.
“Do not cry, Sanzter. It is a special day, there is no need to cry.”
Toriel said softly, her soothing voice made Sanzter smile.
*t-tori—
Toriel hushed Sanzter.
“Remember our promise….”
Toriel said before she disappeared, Sanzter just gazed where she was. He was about to look away when the flame on the candle blew out. Sanzter’s attention turned towards the candle before it lit up again and stayed lit. Sanzter smiled warmly.
*thank ya, tori….. i’ll keep my promise….
