Does anybody else like to give their flash drives, routers, or other devices unique names? I’m backing up many of my work files today and I named my new drive to match my old one. Am I the only one who does this sort of thing?

So the little cylindrical tubes that the Station uses for like, everything. I know that the Federation uses isolinear chips. Small, thin rectangles of information. The Cardassians uses small, thin, cylinders of information.
The Floppy Disk was introduced in 1970, and used widely throughout the next thirty years. USB drives weren’t introduced until 1996, but widespread use really began in 1998.
The Next Generation ran from 1987-1994. Deep Space Nine ran from 1993-1999.
So what I’m saying is Star Trek either called the invention of small devices to store information, or they directly influenced their creation.
