Were undocumented immigrants' benefits frozen today, January 10th, 2026?
There are conflicting "news" reports, and the question's not that simple. I'm not familiar with the term "USCIS benefits," so I'll let someone else answer.

Fatmir Sufa has a timely question online tonight, something like, "Should welfare benefits be denied to all illegals?"
As a citizen and a published writer, my answer is this. First, "illegals" is a pejorative term, easily misinterpreted. It supports stereotyping and bias. I prefer "People-First Language," as described on the website Disability Is Natural. A revised question might be, "Should people be denied food and shelter when they don't have complete documentation?"
In that case, I'd tell President Trump, "People who want to take an English as a Second Language (ESL) course and a citizenship test, or waiting for their documents, should obviously not be starved! That's inhumane."
Trump is on record as "pro-life," but my view is he can't drop his convictions when unborn children get born. It may be that many immigrated when Joe Biden was president. You still can't starve them or let them freeze.
It is January. I'd then advise him to promote ESL and citizenship classes, ensure they're free of charge, and see how many people actually want to become citizens.
To me, that's the only sensible short-term solution. It doesn't require a Supreme Court ruling, "MAGA weakness" or Bidenization — and it could prevent a lot of front-page news about death in a Trump climate, photo-ops of "American genocide," and so on.
Honestly. Gigantic climate splatter-dysfunction, massive earthquakes, solar flares, cosmic destabilization, planets vaporizing, nuclear winter, I can wait until WWIII. Then we all sing, "It all ended with a big bang!" -- All? 🫥😶🌫️ LOL while you can.
Three days ago, according to ABC News, the Trump administration stopped $10 billion in federal childcare money from going to U.S. states, but not all 50 states, just the Deep Blue Five, which have stubbornly refused to round up and corral a sufficiently right Red Republican voting bloc.
I was born in Portland, Oregon, which Donald Trump likes to call "Little Beirut." Tragically for the president's stereotypes, I'm not a whacko left-wing stoner right-wing gun nut who enjoys arson and riots. And I vote.
When I was raising my four children, we sometimes needed childcare, and it was long before federally funded daycare. Fact: My children were never running the streets. I adjusted my work schedule, found and paid for childcare when needed, and now they're grown, employed, housed, educated, served in the military (in one case), and childcare spending cuts won't hurt me personally — but I question whether he could've cut one or two nuclear missiles or war robots out of the DOD's slice of federal pie.
