“Shit,” Jo hissed, and slapped the fender hard. Regretting this decision, she shook out her hand and paced away from the car. She stared down the empty highway, her hands on her hips.
“I need to start stealin’ better cars.”
She huffed and walked back, twisting her hair up as she stared down at the smoking engine. “I’m sorry, okay? Shouldn’t have hit you, it’s not your fault.” She reached up to gently pat the propped hood. We’ll blame the owner.
“Next time I see Bobby, I’m signing up for a course in mechanics.”
And you’re talkin’ to yourself like a crazy person. Sighing, Jo lifted her head and looked around again. Just a whole lot of nothin’, for a long, long way. At this point, she might as well grab her duffel bag and just start walking.
