Alice knew that there was always the risk of capture, that one wrong move could strip her of her freedom and her life.
She hadn’t expected it to happen on her day off.
The CCG had stormed into the cafe, and suddenly she was on the ground, a knee pressing into her spine and RC inhibitor pushed into her veins. It wasn’t until hours later that she would awake in a darkened room, holding only a bed and a toilet. She knew this place, had heard tales of Cochlea. Like hell on earth, they had said. Worse than death.
For a few weeks, she was left alone, to ponder the reasons they had for keeping her here. Surely, if she was such a threat, they would have just killed her?
The first few times they try to question her, she doesn’t speak, eyes stare directly into her interrogator until they either give up or get to uncomfortable to be near her. It became somewhat of a game, seeing how long different investigators last.
She assumes this time will be much the same, as the guards lead her to the familiar room. She shuffles uncomfortably in the shirt that binds her arms to her chest, trying to move her shoulders to stop the ache that always built in them.
Falling into the chair, she watches the man walk in with a blank stare, gaze not wavering from his body.
