                       a sheepish smile was a simple guise, the arrogance in her mischievous gaze was enough to tell that her appearance here was far from a mistake. VANDALISM; a simple enough crime to perpetrate, although getting caught was trickier than she’d imagined. she’d spray-painted three walls before her artwork had been discovered by a certain DETECTIVE bell. the name was familiar. beth’s partner. fidgeting, waiting, until she finally spotted the woman she was here to see. straightening up and flashing her infuriating grin across the room, root held herself like there was no where in the world she’d rather be than handcuffed in that POLICE station, thrilled to see miss childs.

                                 ❝ ----- unfortunately, SHE felt this was the quickest way to gain your attention. ❞  root rolled her eyes back towards the other woman. the machine had not felt it justified to give the delightful detective more than her chosen pronoun, for now.  ❝ have you been SCREENING my calls? ❞

                        there was a LONELINESS inside root; it ached and it bled, and yet she never fed it. starved since childhood, it had shrunk like an emaciated stomach. without her care and nourishment, the warmth inside her had hardened till it was coated with stone. she may not have been BORN like shaw ( and god how she had wished she had been ), personality disordered and a defiant lack of feeling, but she possessed a steel core. it felt oddly gentle to have a friend, no matter the OTHER complications in the situation.  ❝ ----- are you here to keep me company? ❞  flashing a quick smirk at the beautiful woman; she could not resist the infuriating flirtation.

POSY; a small bouquet of flowers -- the most beautiful and sweet of natural creations. tilting her gaze up from her momentary distraction, ❝ ----- you’ll have to mind me, ❞ root’s voice was as light as ever, a sweet smile that could so EASILY mask the poison behind it tilting her perfect cheekbones, ❝ i have a few issues with my hearing. ❞
