They’re really not close to the childlike ones that he knows - they run shops and have elders and Wind cannot picture the Koroks of his home-Hyrule doing that at all - and Hestu is something else entirely, but they’re familiar and friendly and that’s really all that matters. He does keep expecting at least one of them to be musically inclined - again, Hestu is something else, do maracas count as music or just rhythm? - but it never seems to come up for some reason.
Wind is the beach boy, until both Sketch and Lore shoot it down. Sketch has valid, phobia-related reasons. Lore has less valid, possible-Wind-Fish-sighting related reasons. (It’s not even a whale sighting, it’s a seal, but there could be correlation! he insists.)
Dusk brings up quiet forest retreat, and it’s mostly well-received until Mask and Ocarina point out that the two of them already kinda live in a quiet forest retreat and doesn’t Dusk live in a treehouse too? How would it be any different from normal life?
Steam suggests the big city idea as a counterpoint to this realization, and it’s a good idea... except for the bit where he didn’t specify which big city. Castle Town is a given, it’s the biggest city in the country, but they’ve all got their own version of Castle Town and how are they supposed to decide between all those?
The climax is when Realm finally gets tired of the discussion and announces that he’ll take care of it, removes the grounding stud from his ear, and takes a single step forward. The entire group promptly finds themselves on an island in the middle of a lake. This development is met with resigned groans and a bit of good-natured ribbing in Realm’s general direction.
And that’s how the Links end up camping.
