The only person Val actually trusts to not betray her is Kit. This includes the kids.

Things I often forget about Val: She has wings, and she actually can and does pull souls. When she was younger, it was people her father killed. These days she's more inclined to bottle the souls of anyone she personally kills.
Friendly reminder that Val and Lyri are actually really close and Lyri was Val’s maid of honor when her and Kit got married.
Valencia actually did go to college. She was a business major.
Valencia has no respect for someone unwilling to get their hands dirty. If someone betrayed her, she would not hire anyone else to kill them. She would want to look them in the eye while she pulled the trigger herself. It would not matter who that person was either.
Part of what makes Val so good at what she does is most people are genuinely afraid of her. She got just enough of her mom’s genetics that her eyes will go completely black when she’s irritated enough, she got the talons (although not quite as long as her mother’s), and the fact that she has not aged a day since turning twenty five. There is the occasional newer player that thinks these are rumors, that Valencia Fisher is just some sort of horror story the other players tell to spook the newer guys. This always ends in fatality and a new wave of people refusing to go near Val’s territory.
Val is actually the reason Evelyn and Rhodes met. She was worried about Gunner spiraling out of control and of her siblings, Evelyn was the one she trusted the most to get a protection spell from.
