Valdimar is your housecarl if you're thane of Hjaalmarch. Like other housecarls, he's marriageable when you're thane. Cosnach is a drunk who works at the Arnleif and Sons Trading Company in Markarth. He becomes marriageable if you beat him in a brawl.
dipped toes back into Skyrim and was surprised to meet Valdimar again and. uh. apparently I misremembered him as more of a Sad Man then he actually is in-game. other than the Lemmy 'stache, seems like your standard beefy Nord dude. stands upright and everything, no scraggly hair or pushing-sixty physique like I thought. sometimes you really got to step back from your weird headcanons and ask yourself, "why did you decide an NPC with 8-10 lines of interchangable dialogue was a sadsack divorced quasi-alcoholic guy lowkey trying to befriend his thane's husband via fishing?"

So I dropped some Dragon Priest masks to display them in the display case, and suddenly I heard my husband (Stenvar) and my steward (Valdimar) say something like “This armor is mine now!” and “You’ll have to fight me for it!”, so they drew weapons, but then Stenvar put his weapon away and didn’t react at all while Valdimar whaled on him all the way across the house. When it was over I walked up to my husband and he said “Here, i found this earlier, thought you might have dropped it” and gave me back one of the masks. This game is so stupid in little ways.
I personally think Nords naturally having a 50% resistance to frost and ice is a goldmine of comedic potential

This hadn't been what Valdimar had expected. He was so used to Abrams doing whatever he asked with a soft 'yes sir'. Sure he probably toyed with her too much, giving her task after task, but he never expected the quiet crewmember to yell at him. He watched her in awe as she ranted her frustrations about him. This must be the most he'd ever heard her say.
"Abrams go get this, Abrams do that, Abrams I forgot my datapad in engineering. Well I've noticed you've got a pair of legs and your own two hands, go get it yourself! It may surprise you, but I have my own work to do, and I don't have time to be your personal servant!"
"Well, this is not what I expected." Valdimar spoke before she could continue her rant. He leaned towards her and kissed her cheek, though very close to her lips. "I see I've gone about this all wrong, my apologies, Miss Abrams."
He turned on his heel, leaving her looking quite stunned by his action and words.
"W-where are you going?" She asked, slightly confused.
"Engineering," He answered. "to fetch my datapad using 'my own two hands' as you have instructed."
