“—trouble!” if the fizzing, static-y pain in their head tells the doctor anything, it’s that they wake and sit up quicker than they should’ve. but since that’s not really helpful and they’re halfway there they might as well make the full journey to standing. even if there’s a couple of wincing pit stops along the way. still, they make it, despite not being entirely sure why they had to in the first place. knocked out mid-sentence? for a start, that’s just rude. “val!” they cry in relief at the sight of her, half-rushing half-stumbling over to help her up. “good, you’re here, you’re safe. had a terrifying moment of thinking i nodded off in the middle of a supernova. again. and when i say ‘in the middle of’, i mean right in...” another jab of pain in the not-inconsiderable forehead cuts them off with a hiss. “whew, that’s nasty. are you okay? don’t suppose you saw what might’ve hit us or know where we are? because for once i’m happy to admit i haven’t got a clue.”
