AH YES! it is time for! the GIRLS. let's be real my original characters peaked with these two. lesbian disaster duo. bad idea queens. thomas says "hey let's do 'x'!" and vaska says "SOUNDS GREAT! SHALL WE IMMEDIATELY?"

vaska is a werewoof in this one because OF COURSE. thomas is.... mostly-human. possibly some faerie or similar blood. slightly fragile and slightly telepathic, you know how it is.

i spent a long time in the development of this verse trying to think my way around costuming a society that may have reverted to various historical-esque forms of dress simply because a lot of trade that enables mass-manufacture has been stopped (by video-game esque levels of constant monster attack, you know how it is), but also has been through the modern era and like, remembers our forms of dress as ALSO history

a couple days ago i put out a request on twitter for interactive prompts featuring friends’ oc’s and thomas & then i finished art for the first time in FOREVER and i feel very good about this 

H311-X aka helix, is the new computer expert on the oblivion & thomas is the mechanic (somewhat longstanding by the time helix is, uh.  accidentally kidnapped) and their personalities & workstyles are, shall we say... diametrically opposed? xD 

sophia von blutgeier is a half-vampire lady of adventure and uh.  this is a dangerous combination with the thomas/vaska pre-established “bad idea promotion central” way of life 

they are absolutely liveblogging their invasion of this probably very haunted cemetery or something in the middle of Forest, Nowhere, also probably haunted.  all of their friends are responding, “SOPHIA/THOMAS NO” 

sophia and thomas are like, “UH, SOPHIA/THOMAS YES” 

bonus: the warmup i drew when we all realized how tiny thomas is next to these gals who also happen to both have highly enhanced strength: 

thomas is mad but ultimately resigned to this life.  (thomas actually has less-dense-than-normal bones so it’s like. how can ppl resist picking her up? she’s 5′2″ and less than a hundred pounds, look at her)

okay so this set of shirts has been all over my dash and i love them okay.  i love them. i literally went and bought the relevant alignments for me, my sister, and venx the first time i saw the post because i needed us to have them. 

i think neutral evil was my fave one tho and i was very sad that i didn’t have a reason to buy one. so to console myself i thought  “oh gosh wait wasn’t vaska neutral evil. holy shit that is such a perfect vaska shirt” 

so tldr i drew vaska and thomas in their respective alignment shirts :D

ayyyyyy check these guys out they required a suprisingly small amount of redesigning to put them in with flare’s crew actually !!!

thomas is a corellian engineer by trade but she has the wanderlust :D  so she’s all too happy to end up on this weird renegade merc/smuggler ship with a bunch of imperial defectors and some untrained force users.  (she’s got a lot of mixed zeltron blood from her father’s side so she’s pretty empathically sensitive herself)

i tried to find an existing star wars species that would be appropriate to adapt vaska to and just couldn’t reconcile any of them so  i .  kind of invented an entire girl genius crossover (fusion? more of a fusion) so i could justify just sticking her in there wholesale

(basically the heterodynes are an ancient line of some (often-sith) lords from the old republic-empire warring era who bounced out past uncharted space and settled themselves in the europa galaxy and they’ve been causing trouble out there ever since. vaska was participating in one of the masters’ quantum experiments and welp. she’s back in the known galaxy rn and there’s not a lot she knows how to do about that so it’s time to make the best of it)

i forget where i was going with this except for at one point spooks and i were doing an rp where thomas and vaska are passengers on sylvia’s ship and shenanigans went down but i never actually drew all of the main players and now that i am more into sunless sea it seemed like a perfect time owo 

so anyway thomas & vaska are mine obv, sylvia is @spookyopercula‘s captain, and the wistful deviless is one of the officer story characters from sunless sea <333

1) it is amazing how long it took me to do something as simple as i tried to keep this piece like seriously wtf i was working on it for like three days 

2) so there has been some intermittent discussion of COLLEGE AU? i’m really into college au whoops. variant a) it is all in the future of canon and why tf would anyone let jaegers attend college WE JUST DON’T KNOW IT’S A TERRIBLE IDEA TBH but it is funny as hell so we’re just gonna go with it.  

variant b) is of course your standard modern human au which has its own charms look at human vaska how cute is she jaeger vaska at this point (assuming 201x and gg canon at 189x) is slightly over 400 and is therefore ~6′3 instead of not quite 6′ and basically increasingly scruffy and huge owob (dana did her nails) 

thomas is an engineering student and still only manages to hit 5′4″ with the help of some pretty reasonable heels.

1) dmitri is very alarmed about meeting jaegermonsters.  he is maybe panicking just a little. 

2) who let thomas meet riou. this can only lead to disaster.  (also how many pink waistcoats can possibly exist: riou is gonna find out and he is gonna wear them)

vaska had the coat on before she noticed the tiny passenger. and then she panicked.  to be fair, vaska’s first experience with animals pertaining to dana was when she got into a (slightly (more than slightly) drunken) fight with dana’s horse the first time they met.  this was over a hundred years ago.  vaska lost the fight.  vaska had to spend the rest of the night looking for her hat. the intervening time has only continued to reinforce the lesson about dana’s “pets” 

really i just wanted to draw vaska with kittens and this is what happened ^^;;;;
