Max hadn't been sleeping since the radio message. They were debating on if they trusted Park enough to go all the way over there. For now they'd stay put and wait till either Dad and Faye decided to go or they gave up on well everything. The gate had been a looking a little loose so they tucked their gun in their back pocket and started down to the fenced in gate. The machete they'd scrounged from the surplus store was still serving it's purpose. If anything they'd need to sharpen it before going on another supply run. Faye needed arrows and the amount of bullets they had left was getting scarily low. "Alright boys, you know the rules not bouncing on the gate we talked about this." They spoke as they pointed the machete at an offending zombie. They'd changed a lot in 10 years, their hair black and half shaved mostly pulled back and out of the way. The zombie bite on their neck marring tattoos, copious tattoos had also been destroyed by scarring that Max didn't bother to fix. "Come on play nice today okay? I got stuff i wanna do."

Fog hung low over the water, muting the lights in the distance. A single line of footprints led to where Jo stood near the edge of the surf, her gear arranged in a neat pile at her feet—her jacket, a blanket to dry off with, and her Glock and shotgun placed on top to keep the rounds dry.

She bent to untie her laces, breath visible in the chill. The nights had grown progressively colder and the water would be positively freezing, but that didn’t matter. Dirt led to infection, infection led to death. It wasn’t ideal, but it beat festering in her own filth. She could hardly remember the color of her own skin anymore, and the fresh cut on her thigh from earlier in the day continued to weep no matter how many times she wrapped it.

Jo shifted her weight, boots sinking slightly in the wet sand, when something broke the silence. A scraping sound, too deliberate to be wind. Her head snapped up and in the same motion, she snatched up the shotgun and raised it toward the intruder.

“You’ve got ten seconds to show yourself,” she said, voice low but steady. “Or I start shooting.

It was already late when Ursa heard the sound of things being moved around up in the church. He was careful as he climbed out of bed, pulling his sword from the sheath before exiting the basement. The sounds of rummaging grew louder and he followed it into the old church floor and saw a shadow moving about.

"The church is open for refuge, if you require it," the demon called out. It wasn't the first time someone had come stumbling in off the streets, either being chased by zombies or looking to steal something for themselves. Ursa would always offer both kinds of people a place to stay and rest for the night. It wasn't a full proof shelter but he and Astrid had made it safe enough for short stays and it was a good way to get a meal these days.

"If you're open to trading, we take that in exchange for lodgings but if you can't trade, we won't turn you away either." One way or another, he'd learn what kind of person had come to stay and they'd leave peacefully or go out with the trash in the morning.

He had been working on his necromancy with his aunt since he'd started hiding out with her, but he sometimes felt the need to leave for a while so he could work on it more and not freak out Elliot too much in the process, or his sweet dog.

Rei had managed to find one lone zombie and was working to control it. It was going fine so far, the magic had worked and the zombie was obeying his magic commands, but he wasn't paying enough attention to realise they weren't alone. Finally, he heard movement and he spun around, not seeing anyone right away.

"I heard you over there," he called out. If it was a zombie, it would have come right at him. It had to be another person. "Come out before I sick this zombie on you."

"You'll want to watch your step." He spoke up to whomever had wandered into one of the entrances to the subway tunnels a place he called home. Elliot was a long way from his old home in the shipyard, Watson was still at his side looking a little older and a little grumpier. "I'd hate to have you injured accidentally." He leaned against the subway station wall, Elliot pushed off from it his foot thunking down on old tiles. He'd set some old traps up like they had centuries ago for hunting. He moved to unset the trap allowing them to move a little freer in the tile. "If you're looking for supplies, you wont find much down here I'm afraid."

In the early years after the outbreak, Lian's only concerns had been for their nephews and survival. While the witch had found a way to survive in this world, they were still limited to what they could do. Together with Rei, they had built a cozy little place deep in the subway tunnels. Most people didn't want to go wandering that far in the dark with the sounds of zombies reverbarating in the long tunnels.

It was why she had been surprised to find Elliot one day with his sweet dog in tow. Lian was surprised at how relieved she had been to see him and know that he was alive and well. She had invited him to stay, knowing that the witch's could use some more hands and the company. Watson had certainly brightened their moods considerable and Lian was glad for another person to talk to as well.

They still needed their space some days and that day they had gone out to trade and found a few items along the way that would be useful to their group. The items were stashed in her satchel and slung over her back as she followed the subway lines back to their safe place.

They caught sight of Elliot ahead and their pace quickened. "Oh good, I found you. I found you both," they said in greeting, glad to see Watson beside him as well. "I found a treat for you both," Lian confided. "I found a few cans of the good stuff for Watson and I traded a potion for hostess cupcakes for you," Lian told him, pulling both items out of their bag to show him.

The evening was quiet, the dusk air providing a slight chill that ran down Kiran's spine in a cold shiver. It was rare he left his apartment. Rare he set foot outside of the short perimeter he had deemed 'safe'. But - necessity had pushed his boundaries. And, if there truly was a a potential vaccine available... Kiran needed something to test it on. Or someone.

So, that's what brought him to the treeline of VC Park. Up ahead, one of his makeshift contraptions stood - an improvised trap, made out of scrap metal, spare wire and more desperation than he'd like to admit. It was designed to capture a stray zombie for his experiments - but, the figure that thrashed inside seemed much more sentient than Kiran had been expecting.

"... H-hello?" Kiran tries not to speak too loudly, not wanting to alert any zombies that may be around in the darkness."I do hope you weren't up there for too long." He doesn't make a move to release them just yet, though. Perhaps this accidental capture could still be useful.

IT'S TIME FOR THE DAWN OF THE LIVING DEAD...

To anyone who is listening, this *bzzt!* Park Sung Joon. This is Park Sung Joon of P.S. Tech. I succeeded! I have the cure *bzzt!* the zombie bite. I succeeded! Please believe me. This is *bzzt!* way of making amends for the last *bzzt!* years! Please come *bzzt!* the P.S. Tech building in Dymock. I have the cure *bzzt!* I will give it to anyone who makes it here!

This is the message that was broadcast to every radio channel in Vievecor City and beyond.

It's been ten years since the outbreak of the zombie virus, the same virus that P.S. Tech allegedly unleashed on the world. In that time, a large population of the world have either died or been turned into zombies, with a very sparse number of survivors still holding on.

Now that this message has been received by so many survivors, the inhabitants of Vievecor City need to brace for more of the living making their way to the island. More of the living means that the hordes and Hunters already existing in the city will be whipped up into a frenzy. It is not going to be easy for anyone to get around, even those who know the city well...

That said, now that the survivors in Vievecor City have received this message? Would they want to be the first to make it to P.S. Tech? If they do not, what are they going to do now that the city is going into a new state of unrest?

RULES:

Our Dawn of the Living Dead AU Event will run from Oct 31st, 12pm EST to Nov 10th, 12pm EST.  All players who are carrying guns in their weapon arsenal needs to roll 1d20 in the #dicerolling channel in our OOC Discord to determine how many bullets they have remaining for their guns. Players can find more ammo in-game in threads where characters are scavenging and/or after characters fight off zombies. The amount of ammo found will be determined by rolling 1d6, with different numbers amounting to different amount of ammo found. The following details how many bullets found per dice number: (1) 10 bullets; (2) 2 bullets; (3) 20 bullets; (4) 1 bullet; (5) 5 bullets; (6) 0 bullets ----------------- Once the event has begun, we ask players to only post starters which are related to it. Please tag all new starters with #vczombies2025 and #vievecorcitystarter and tag @vievecorcitystarters​. The open starter rules still apply! We advise players to place prior threads on hold during our event week, however, this is not required. Each thread players start must have the location/grid square and the weapons their characters have on hand listed at the start of the thread! Players might get a comment on their thread letting them know that a zombie attack (size will differ at the admin's discretion! 🫣) is imminent and they will need to work this into whatever thread they are writing~ Please also expect plot drops throughout the event in regards to where zombie horde and Hunter attacks are going to be located. If your character is in that grid or location, please use the information provided to inform future threads.
