Vernal Pool - Dozier Bell , 2024.
American , b. 1957 -
Acrylic on linen , 40 x 32 in.
Flooded Vernal Pools, Delaware Watergap, NJ - June 1st 2025
It's salamander season again.
Here’s the pool. No other pools in the area have the same thing occurring except for another pool that is very clearly connected/part of this one (where I’m sitting is roots that grow over the pool and now have soil on them). The water is fresh and the fluctuations don’t have a set pattern. There’s a creek about 200’ away
every year I get older, I see less and less salamanders. I haven’t found any this year and it breaks my heart
