I was the exact same! I took me much longer than it should have to get through the series but I finally did. A lot of people complained about Dance with Dragons but I loved it. There is Arya craziness in that one.

loool they're intense books to get through!!! I mean I wanna know how it all ends up but everytime I finish one I'm like OKAY I NEED TO TAKE A FEW BREATHS - especially after book 3 geeeeeeeze. I'm really excited for a Dance with Dragons (TYRION! DANY! LADY STONEHEART!), I don't have a paperback copy of that one so I won't start it for a while but TUMBLR WILL KNOW WHEN I DO

Yay! I found it started kinda slow but once you got used to the Dornish characters and what not it gets much better.

yeeees I'm really enjoying it!!! I really drag my heels with these books (I read the first one in Fall of 2011 and now it's 2014 so....) and I was wary about this one since everyone had told me that Tyrion and Dany's chapters are in book 5 so I was like, what the fuck.

But Book 4 is LOADED with political shit in King's Landing which I LOVE, and I LOVE that we are finally inside Cersei's head. She's an awful person but one of my favorite characters and now that we're getting her POV and seeing just how greedy, paranoid, and power-hungry she truly is - I'm loving it. I wish there was more Sansa and Arya (I LOVE THEM) and less Sam (YOU'RE SO BORING) but it's cool. It is driving me a little nuts not knowing what Tyrion is up to but I'm surviving.

AND I LOVE DORNE and all the Dornish - I totally was like "wtf who all these people" at first but now I'm really digging them and their style.

Also how am I not gonna love king tommen, lover of kittens and decrier of beets
