The wait is over. The God of Festivals has officially claimed his Empress, and the Demon Slayer Corps will never be the same.

​Chapter 21: The Unveiling of Bonds is LIVE, bringing this massive two-part, 21,500+ word festival event to its conclusion!

​In this chapter, the Hashira finally process the truth of the Void Hashira's integration into the Uzui clan. All of the chaotic misunderstandings are dispelled. We will see the full range of reactions (Rengoku and Mitsuri instantly pivoting from war to romance, Giyu realizing he doesn't have to commit seppuku), Shinobu Kocho realizing she's been outmaneuvered by something out of Mitsuri’s novels, a borrowed dance of ancient lineage under the fireworks, and a deeply emotional, tear-jerking miracle for the Kamado siblings before the shadow of the Mugen Train falls over the estate. (Seriously tho, I caught multiple lumps in my throat during the writing process, couldn't even finish reading some sentences out loud 😭❤️‍🩹)

​Kūhime yielded to his gravity without a single fraction of resistance. She reached up, her pale hands—adorned with the solid gold rings of his clan—sliding up his chest to gently frame his painted face.

NO! The golden fire roared, expanding violently against the crushing weight of her emptiness. I will not let her die! Put the pieces back! Then, the phantom memory of their brutal, exposed death struck him, adding a flushed, frantic spike of human indignity to his grief. And put some clothes on! We are completely bare out there! Someone might see us! It's so improper!

The vessel is a tool, she retorted, deeply annoyed by the sudden, chaotic noise of his modesty mixing with his panic. It possesses no inherent shame, just as a drawn blade feels no embarrassment for being unsheathed.

The Echo's flustered desperation only flared hotter, vibrating against her boundaries and threatening to give her a migraine.

Your insistence is deafening, she sighed, conceding strictly to quell the relentless clamor of his devotion and phantom embarrassment. Very well. I shall reset the board. And if it silences you, I will weave a perimeter to conceal the cage.

[LOCATION: EARTH / THE KUMOTORI MOUNTAINS]

The demon tore another mouthful of flesh from the pale corpse in the snow, chewing frantically despite the deeply unsettling taste of ash and static. It was starving, and meat was meat.

But as it swallowed, the flesh in its throat simply ceased to exist.

The beast choked, gagging on a sudden lungful of empty air. It looked down at its bloodstained claws. The severed arm it had been pinning to the ice dissolved into a lightless, mist-like pitch. The crimson stains in the pristine snow evaporated. The broken, lifeless body beneath the demon unravelled into dark smoke, slipping through its grasping fingers until there was absolutely nothing left.

The demon was left kneeling alone in the snow, its mouth and hands completely empty.

Then, the reality of the mountain stuttered.

Standing exactly three paces away was the pale figure. She was perfectly whole. But she was no longer exposed to the biting wind. As the universe rewound to spit her back into existence, she had pulled the literal darkness of the Void with her.

I am losing my absolute mind over this! I commissioned the incredibly talented @aisheux, told them to draw whatever scene sparked their creativity, and they produced this phenomenal, sequential manga masterpiece for Chapter 7! 🤩🖤

Because this art is so dynamic, I decided to do a massive formatting overhaul on AO3. Chapter 7 is now a Light Novel experience. I have officially updated the chapter's custom CSS, and these four stunning panels are now embedded directly into the text at the exact narrative beats they occur! ✨ THE LIGHT NOVEL EXPANDS: The Anatomy of a Hug! 🥺🌌✨

The incredibly talented @aisheux is officially unstoppable! They just delivered a brand new, FIVE-PANEL manga sequence for Chapter 8, and my heart cannot take it! 😭🖤

This sequence captures one of my absolute favorite moments from The Fourth Kunai: the culmination of the wives' trial, where the terrifying Sovereign of the Void has to figure out how to accept a hug from a weeping Suma. Aishy perfectly captured Kūhime's transition from stiff, cosmic confusion to genuine, found-family warmth.

The weeping kunoichi was trembling, holding her smoke bomb like a volatile stone she didn't know how to throw. She had watched her two stronger "sisters" get dismantled in the blink of an eye.

"I surrender!" Suma wailed, dropping to her knees. "I can't beat a Hashira! It's impossible! Please don't kill me!"

Kūhime looked at her.

The spirit is fracturing. The scent of terror is overwhelming. Combat is wasteful. It serves no purpose.

She’s scared! She doesn't need to be beaten. She's part of the family! She needs to be held!

Held?

Yes! Would you like help with that?

...Guide me, Ember.

Kūhime walked toward her. Slowly. Her hands were open, palms visible.

Suma flinched, squeezing her eyes shut. "Don't hit me! I'm sorry I'm weak!"

Kūhime stepped into the weeping girl’s space.

The terrifying pressure that had crushed the air moments ago evaporated. The hollow cold was replaced by the warmth of a hearth fire—the "Ember" bleeding through the "Void.”

"Suma-san," Kūhime said gently. "May I?"

Suma peeked one teary eye open. "May... you what?"

"Claim the wager."

Kūhime opened her arms, surrendering to the Echo.

Suma blinked. She looked at the terrifying Void Woman, then at the open arms. Then, realizing she wasn't going to be pulverized, the relief broke the dam.

"Waaaaah! You're so nice! Makio is always so mean during training!"

Suma threw herself into the hug. Whump.

Kūhime froze, unaccustomed to the sudden warmth. The instinct to recoil flared, but the Ember overruled it with a frantic, warm instruction.

​Don't be a statue! Hug her back! She needs to know you're real! Pat her head... gently! Like a rhythm! Pat, pat, pat!

​Rhythm... Kūhime considered. Rhythm is Order.

She lifted her hand and patted the top of Suma’s head.

Tak. Tak. Tak.

​She relaxed, the stiffness draining from her shoulders. She allowed the embrace—her first hug. She held the crying woman, looking over Suma’s shoulder at the other two stunningly silent wives. A rare, genuine softness touched Kūhime's silver eyes.

To the other wives, it looked like a miracle. The woman who erased sound and folded space was standing there, letting a crying girl snot on her pristine uniform, looking like she belonged there. But to Suma, tucked against the black uniform, Kūhime smelled faintly of wisteria and burnt charcoal. It wasn't the scent of a Goddess; it was the scent of a home.

"Wager claimed," Kūhime whispered into Suma’s hair. "You are the heart that binds. Vulnerability is not weakness; it is the mortar that prevents the rigid stone from cracking under stress."

Kūhime gently released Suma—who was now sniffling happily...

VOLUME 3 CONTINUES: The Festival of Flash (11k Word Special!) 🎆✨

​The gates are open! Chapter 20: The Festival of Flash is officially live, and it is a staggering 11,000-word feast of absolute chaos! Gosh, writing these misunderstandings in soooo many wildly different perspectives was such a challenge! 😮‍💨 But it was also a LOT of fun!

​When the Hashira finally arrive at the Uzui Estate, the misunderstandings hit critical mass. Giyu is mentally preparing for his own execution, Shinobu is performing chemical warfare diagnostics on the tempura, and Rengoku and Mitsuri have declared war on an imaginary syndicate.

​But amidst the comedic disaster, we get Inosuke offering a dirty river rock as a diplomatic tribute to a Goddess, Zenitsu and Suma trauma-bonding in the dirt, and the God of Festivals finally stepping into the firelight to shatter the illusions.

​Inosuke didn't attack. Steam puffed aggressively from his snout. He reached into his fur skirt and pulled out the perfectly smooth, algae-stained river rock he had found in a creek three days ago.

​With complete, feral solemnity, Inosuke held the smooth rock out with both hands, offering it directly to Kūhime's chest.

​"The Mountain God wears the shiny skin today," Inosuke declared, his raspy voice echoing over the shamisen music. "Lord Inosuke brings the heavy stone. Do not crush my lungs."

​The Hashira tensed. Rengoku blinked. Giyu’s hand gripped his sword tighter, uncertain if this was a challenge, an insult, or a bizarre distraction.

​Kūhime looked down at the algae-stained rock.

​The Void analyzed the object with the sight of Eternity. It did not merely see a simple rock covered in river debris; it saw the dense, unpolished weight of deep, feral sincerity. It was an offering of peace, presented with the exact same frantic reverence as a shiny acorn. To a mortal merchant, it was worthless. To the Goddess of the Void, it was a sacred currency, holding the exact same spiritual mass as the gold embroidered into her silk.

​The Ember pulsed warmly in agreement. He brought a gift. He wants to be safe here.

​Without breaking her ancient, deific composure, Kūhime reached out. Her pale hands, adorned in rings of gold, gracefully accepted the smooth, dirty river rock from the beast.

​"The tribute is accepted, Hashibira," Kūhime intoned, her voice echoing with the fathomless, quiet resonance of deep earth. "Your lungs shall remain uncrushed this night."

​With smooth, unflinching dignity, Kūhime tucked the smooth, dirty rock directly into the sleeve of her priceless, gold-embroidered Imperial Violet kimono. The delicate fabric sagged visibly under the damp weight, ruining the flawless line of the silk, but she did not blink.

She tilted her head, her silver eyes reflecting nothing—not even the white of the demon’s eyes. "You are merely splashing in the shallows of what I am."

Hundreds of shadow spikes erupted from the glass floor, aiming to skewer them from below.

"Curtain up!" Tengen roared. He moved with blinding, superhuman speed—a blur of crimson kinetics. He slammed the explosive beads directly into the floor.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

The explosions were a flamboyant defiance of the monochrome world. In the waking world, they would be deafening; here, they were a concussive shockwave of pure, golden heat that tore through the ink-ribbons like paper caught in a forge. The flash obliterated the very concept of the shadows, turning the spikes to harmless smoke.

The Demon shrieked in agony as the violent, flamboyant light scorched his false reality. "LIGHT?! IN MY DOMAIN?!"

Tengen dashed through the smoke, a predatory blur. He didn't need a Breathing Form; he used the rhythm of the chaos. He threw three kunai attached to high-tensile shinobi wire, the steel whistling as it pierced the thickest pillar of darkness, pinning the Demon's true, emaciated body to his own stage.

The Demon, exposed and panicked, shrieked a sound like wet silk tearing. He waved his pale, spindly hands in a frantic arc. The shadows cast by the debris Tengen had just scorched suddenly came to life. They didn't just move; they sharpened, becoming razor-thin scythes of the metaphysical dark aiming directly for the Sound Hashira’s exposed spine.

Tengen didn't dodge. He didn't even check his blind spot. He simply continued his dash, a streak of defiant color in the monochrome hollow. He knew exactly who held the conductor's baton.

Kūhime stepped directly into the path of the shadow blades. She didn't raise a weapon. She didn't brace for impact. She simply stood in her plum-dark silk and allowed her Nature to expand.

Contact.

The blades struck her shoulder and... ended.
