Dr. Sausageman kept eyeing me suspiciously, and Dr. Baconman was busy playing with his bacon-scented cologne. And don't even get me started with Dr. Spamman, who kept trying to convince me that pork-flavored meat products were the way of the future.

Despite all of this, I decided to stick it out and give the group a chance. Who knows, maybe they'll be of use to me in the future. After all, their expertise in breakfast foods could come in handy when I'm working on my latest invention.

But for now, I'll just enjoy the bacon-wrapped hot dogs they're offering and try to ignore the strange looks I'm receiving.

Hi, I’m somewhat new to practicing magic and I’d like to do more, but I only have 3 books (grimoirium verum, the necrinomicon spell book, and the book of forbidden knowledge) and they can be pretty hard to decipher, plus I’m hella broke so it’s hard for me to get much else. Any tips on how to get started/results?

I’ve heard good things about verum, the necronomicon is very fun to work, and I haven’t heard the last. But yeah, not the best for beginners, though.

You don’t need to have a budget to get results. You can perform miracles with just paper and pencil. Firstly I’d recommend looking for books online - I would say 90% of the time any magick book you ever want is gonna be available as a pdf somewhere. I have a few really good ones on my library page. You usually have a really good chance of getting books for free.

Secondly, focus on the techniques rather than the props. You can substitute cardboard for solid gold and as long as you perform the ritual itself to the best of your abilities, it’ll still work. There’s many systems that don’t require props at all, or the requirements are so minimal that you can just use household items. I would say stay away from stuff that bases itself entirely on physical components, the last thing you need is to go to the store and blow a bunch of money on spice jars for herbs you’re only going to use once.

Find something that looks fun and doesn’t require a dozen different accessories or ingredients to perform. Do it to the best of your abilities and you’ll be fine. The most important component when it comes to getting results is yourself - like any craft you need to practice to hone your skills, but learning mental techniques is always gonna be free.
