Blood was not a familiar sight to Reaper. Dragging himself around a corner and out of sight from the massacre he’d just created, his legs finally gave out from under him, wrenching a surprised cry out of his mouth. The second he hit the ground it jostled his broken mask loose. The wraith did nothing to stop it from falling to the ground; he didn’t even move to pick it up.
A scowl dragged over his features, lips curling back to reveal the monsters set of sharpened teeth. His vision had changed during the fight, the light assaulted him when the mask fell off. The nanites had reproduced them again; and in response Reaper forced them all closed. He didn’t need this. It caused more piercing pain, this time entering his head as the light had seared in once the mask fell off.
He knew he was a mess, he’d not had the chance to take enough life to properly sustain the injuries. In return; he ended up bleeding. Like a human. A human wearing a monsters skin. A low, angered hiss escaped him, and his eyes cracked open. His arm raised to shield against the light; why’d he have to cause problems in the daytime?
His arm lowered only when he saw a figure approaching. That wasn’t good. The area was supposed to be abandoned aside from his targets. This was either one he’d missed, an operative of Talon that had tailed him for the mission, or someone who was wrong place wrong time. Either way; it wasn’t good for him. An attempt to move, to scramble up, was made. All to no avail as his body just ended up crashing back against the wall he’d fallen down on. All that escaped was an angered and pained hiss, before he gave up, moving his head away from the approaching intruder.
Once he’d heard their approach, he spoke from his position. He kept his head turned, attempting to shield his face from them. He didn’t need to be seen. He didn’t want to be in the case it was a Talon operative. His face had always been a… sensitive issue.
❛ Don’t take a single step closer. If you want to survive you’re going to tell me who you are and why you’re here. ❜
It’s almost a futile demand, but he has to at least try.
