The Shawnee lookout tower. The last remaining tower was built in 1939. The tower was restored in 1994 but is now closed due to damage sustained in a wind storm in 2004.

With temps in the upper 90’s I headed to Wayne National Forest. I was able to find a camp sight with electric hookup so I could run a fan at night.

The main corridor trail was a bit rough for a bike as big as mine. This series of muddy ruts was over a hundred yards long and it wasn’t the only one.
