The debt relief for the autonomous communities will force Euskadi and Nafarroa to pay part of the interest.
The 83.2 billion euros debt that the State cancels for the autonomous communities will not disappear but will be now assumed by the Spanish State.
Both Euskadi and Nafarroa contribute to paying the Spanish State's charges such as the payment of debt interest through the yearly Cupo (Euskadi) and the Contribution (Nafarroa). Therefore, if the State's debt increases so does the interest as well as the Cupo and the Contribution. These communities will have to pay 6.24% (Euskadi) and 1.6% (Nafarroa) of the autonomous communities billionaire cancelled debt interest from 2027 onwards. [x]
